Ok, two Harriet Miers questions:
1) Do you think she’ll get to be a SCOTUS justice? Meaning, will she pass the confirmation hearings, or will her name be withdrawn?
2) If she does not get confirmed, is this a victory? I mean, is there anyone out there that Bush would realistically appoint that is bearable?
I’m having a baby tomorrow! Being induced is great because I can plan it, but I’m losing my mind waiting now! So I knit and obsessively check the blogs I read to pass the time.
Annie,
Congratulations! My wife had a planned delivery too, and I’m not sure would have been worse anticipation-wise…waiting for a specific time like we did, or waiting for an unknown time. The former is focused and growing, the latter is sort of a generalized hum.
Thank you! We’re all very excited. This is our third and final, so it’s kind of a relief to have this over with. But very bittersweet.
The first delivery was your standard wait and see when it happens and I thought it was never going to end. We’ve planned the last two, so while the waiting is torturous, the end is at least in sight. And I can say fairly confidently that by this time tomorrow I’ll be holding my new son…..that’s a good feeling.
Congratulations, Annie! Much luck and love to you and the new little one.
With regard to Sara,
He could at least choose somebody less unacceptable. Unfortunately, after Miers gets voted down, anybody that he cares to push through will probably get accepted because they will look so, so much better in comparison.
It seems that dead college freshman is dead because she hooked up with a kiddie porn collector who drove her out here and “accidentally restricted her breathing during an intimate encounter” in his car. Yuck. That kind of shit needs to stay in Richmond where it belongs; don’t drive out to my neck of the woods for freaky deviant car sex.
Strange… an open thread where the first commenter didn’t say something like “first” or the new, hip word “Frist”…
Actually is it considered rude to not do that at blogs where they do start comments with that? Does anyone still find it funny?
Go White Sox and Colts! :D
Well, on this blog the last commenter gets to say “Last” but only if no one comments after that.
Congrats, Annie.
I’m off to my twenty-year high school reunion tomorrow.
Congrats to you Annie. Here’s to a smoothly and quick delivery :-)
Congratulations, Annie!
I’m going to have dinner and drink beer with my friends. Then write a grant proposal tomorrow that I’m certain will get turned down, leaving my graduate studies in limbo….okay, maybe I’m being a little negative there.
I’m certain will get turned down…
Argue for your limitations, and they become yours.
I was going to send you a copy of “The Power of Positive Thinking”, but then I thought, what the hell good would that do. :P

Now that was funny.
Awwww, bi-partisan smack talk…. This little blog has really grown up.
Okay Lauren, just for having an open thread on a Friday when only the strange or the strange at heart–or very pregnant peole, congrats Annie–are about, I’m subjecting you to terminal cute.
Congratulations Annie.
I just watched Batman Begins again. Now I mope around the Internet for awhile before I sleep. And wait for my random ten to finish up, so I can post that up here.
Also, I point and laugh at the circus that is the Tom DeLay defense. Here’s to a fair and speedy trial that leads to his ass rotting in state prison for more than a few years. Schadenfreude!
Terminally cute is an understatement.
Psychological torture for cat-deprived cat lovers.
I’m currently trying to figure out what to dress up as for hallowe’en…. Any suggestions? Something current eventy and really smugly liberal/Feminist/whatever would be fun….. How coudl I dress as Tom DeLay in prison and make it obvious that it was Tom Delay?
You know, now you folks have got me feeling better about my chances. Damn you! :)
Congratulations Annie! Ou little one (the first) was supposed to be planned, but he came a few days early. He’s 10 weeks now.
My mother-in-law has beeen staying with us all week. She goes home on Saturday. After that I’m going to start ripping apart the room she is sleeping in. We’re going to re-insulate & drywall, replace the windows, lay down carpet & build a playhouse under some stairs for the peanut to play in. I’m so excited. After this, all the windows will be done and only the kitchen will be left to be gutted.
KnifeGhost, if there are any right wing fundies where you will go, just don a pink dress. Gays are the scariest thing they could ever imagine…
I’m in Montreal, possibly the most liberal city in Canada. Even with all the Catholics.
KG, lion. Nothing more feminist than a lion.
That makes no sense to me, but it sounds awesome.
I’m finally done grading and am catching up on the seminar work I’m behind in. Figuring out what to say about “What Is Enlightenment?” for Monday. Pining after expensive shoes; always moments away from ordering them. Not thinking about all that’s left to do. Not thinking about putting a dissertation committee together. Missing game one of the WS. Still mad that they only released 2-4,000 tickets for the “little guys.”
Basically my life seems to consist in over-rewarding for accomplishing small tasks and avoidance. Nice.
But the local gellatoria is still good.
And one of my roomates for Halloween is dressing as that python that died while trying to eat an alligator. The python-pattern spandex came in the mail yesterday. It’s almost like a house costume, we’re all so invested in it.
Go White Sox!
