Kyra, if you pay close attention, she is wearing flat goth boots when she's doing the running/fighting. It's only when she is standing around or they show her feet as she lands that she's wearing the heels....'cause I thought the very same thing but noticed the difference in several scenes the 2nd time around.

KnifeGhost,

To my shame, I haven’t seen ABBA - The Movie

Tsk, tsk. I'm not sure whether they've actually released the DVD in North America but it's coming. I picked mine up in Europe. For a quick fix, there's always P2P.

When you watch it, well it's super campy with a lame narrative woven throughout, but the concert scenes rock. It was filmed during their Australian tour and the whole nation went nuts. People lining the highways and roads all the way to the airport. The first concert in Sydney, open air, was delayed because of a record thunderstorm but the audience didn't want to leave, so the concert went on in the middle of the downpour and ABBA actually ran a real risk of being electrocuted.

Seeing them like that makes you respect their decision to turn down a Billion dollars for a reunion tour because you see them in their prime, and that's how they want to be remembered. It takes a certain strength of character to turn down that amount of money in order to keep alive a legacy.

You know, I think it was a confluence of luck that brought them together. They were all stars before they met each other. Then the romances begin, and then they start to perform publicly. I think that people really connected with the couples in love making music fantasy. I think present-day fans are also pretty impressed by one of the women becoming a princess.

a true ABBA fan is guiltless and shameless.

Yeah, but we're really pushing the limits of guilt and shame when we get into watching their music videos. They were a major pioneer of the format and when you only have a budget of $1,000 and knock out 2 videos in an afternoon, it becomes kind of painful to watch and to admit that you can see through the camp to enjoy Bang-A-Boomerang.

They have the video on-line at the Abbasite.com, where I just learned:

Today, February 7, 2006, the DVD release of ABBA - The Movie won a Swedish Grammy for Best DVD at the annual Swedish Grammy Awards in Stockholm. The ABBA DVD beat the competition from four other nominees.

No guilt about ABBA here. Why, I even think that Kristina från Duvemåla is a mark of musical genius that would shock those who dismiss the quality of composition talent from the boys, and I haven't heard a 3rd voice to match what the girls managed to achieve.

Also, I've even been known to, on occasion, actually put ABBA - The Movie into the DVD player when other people are in the room :)

Oh, and Magis. I share your love for ABBA, but with none of the guilt.

You...mean...I'm...not...alone? *weeps* :)

Honestly, I couldn't tell you why, but I'd give it an 85.

It's part of Tartan Week, which is a celebration of Scottish culture that takes place in New York in April. Dressed to Kilt is a fashion show/fundraiser, where celebrities and socialites and designers and whatnot model variations on kilts.
Yes, Zuzu, I have. However, for some reason I couldn't keep straight who was who. Several of the guys were hot, but none fantasy-inducing . . . yet . . . perhaps if I see it again? Wasn't really paying attention to the guys, more to figuring out the plot and wondering why the hell Selene wore boots with big stupid heels when she spent so much time running around and fighting. You'd think as a vampire she could maybe intimidate the companies who make Gothic boots into making some with decent heels. (Yeah. Hot guys onscreen and I'm thinking about shoes. Wasn't too bright that particular day, was I?)

Oh, and add Lucius Malfoy to number 3 on my last post. And Bo Duke from the original Dukes of Hazzard (repeat: NOT the movie).

Dressed to Kilt? WTF is that?
