The Kids Are All Right

They’re even pushing for women’s studies programs in high schools. Awesome. Support the Miss G project!

Thanks to Brendon for letting me know about this fantastic project. Seriously folks, get out there and help if you can. If you can throw a few bucks their way, I’m sure they could use it. If you’re like me and don’t even have a few bucks, take five minutes to write a letter.

Alas, its in Ontario. I could see the Arkansas or Kansas PTA getting their panties all up in a bunch if someone proposed this in the good ole US of A.

At my highschool, a moderate sort of school in the midwest, we had no Women’s Studies in highschool. I didn’t like that, so I went to my favorite English teacher and together we built a curriculum for a Women in Literature course, which began as an independent study, just her and I. When last I visited my highschool, the class was still considered an independent, though it now boasted upwards of 10 students.

In conclusion, I strongly recommend the power of teachers and students to be the change they wish to see, to develop their own courses and build a legacy for their fellow students.
