He can't imagine anyone else having an emotional life that's not focused on him and his surpassing coolness. Nor can he imagine that what suits him could repel anyone else. It's that total obliviousness to other people that makes him so creepy. For me, this fits right in with his raw foods obsession--most of us ordinary mortals just eat our food, his type uses every mouthful to trumpet his specialness to the world.
