I think we can all go home now.

From the special moderation cue:

Um, Ok, if all heterosexual sex is demeaning towards women, how are we supposed to reproduce? Forget that we have fertility technology and drugs.

I will tell you who is reproducing, muslims. Before you all crucify me for profiling a certain type of people, they are the ones claiming superiority over everyone, claiming that one day, Islam will rule America. The same people who douse women with gasoline and light em up for wearing fingernail polish. The same guys who practice FGM. Y’all are barking up the wrong tree. The real danger lies between the covers of the Koran.

I will take Judeo Christian patriarchy over Muslim hell any day of the week, even as a man. What western man wants to see women forced to live the way they do? Not I. I want women to be happy and beautiful.

You know who else is reproducin’? Cockroaches. Cockroach women have like eleventy-trillion kids each. Do you want to live life like a cockroach? Well do you?

    Pffft.

Selfish prick. As a man, conveniently unaffected by the consequences of either misogynist regieme, he chooses the brand of oppression that pleases him to support. And support it he does, not just in the “it’s bad but at least it’s not that bad” sense, but in the “you should be perfectly willing to make this sacrifice to help us keep you safe from that other oppression.” Except actually it’s “I’m willing for you to make this sacrifice, and I’ll portray this other oppression as worse and also imminent in order to threaten you into doing it.”

Plus a strawfeminist to boot. Wow.

I will take Judeo Christian patriarchy over Muslim hell any day of the week, even as a man.

Patriarchy and hell being functionally interchangeable, I call spin. Jackass.

Ha! That’s the best line I’ve read in a while.

But seriously tho, what does this sentence mean? “I will take Judeo Christian patriarchy over Muslim hell any day of the week, even as a man.”

Even as a man? Is Judeo Christian patriarchy somehow anti-male? Did I miss something in history class? Or is this dude saying that he agrees with Muslims when they are treating women like shit (a rather fucked up opinion of Muslims, in my opinion), but otherwise, he wants nothing to do with them?

Not to rain on everyones parade here…But…the only ones doing more than replacement reproduction are the religious fundementalists of every religion and sect thereof. Wheather Mexican Catholic or Islamist or Mormon the common denominator is adhearence to unquestioningly to the more superstitious qualities of religion. This is not an immediate problem but it will be if no thought is for the future. After all what is the solution. No simple criticism that the problem was posed… What is the solution.

Obviously we should continue our good work of invading Muslim countries and killing civilians. Or at least take away abortion rights from all the atheists so that we can boost our population.

    Jeff Fecke 7.19.2006 at 7:32 am |

Steve, Steve, Steve–it’s extraordinarily simple. You want to lower the birth rate of “other” women? Educate them.

Educated women have fewer children. Period. It’s almost a 1:1 correlation. I learned this when I was fifteen and had the good fortune to go on a trip to Morocco and meet the women running the UNFPA there; they had helpful charts that showed the number of kids literate women had versus illiterate. Of note: Morocco is a Muslim nation. (Yes, the UNFPA; we can’t fund them because my friend’s cousin totally says that they fund abortion in China.)

Steve, the problem you’re addressing goes back approximately forever. As far as I know the groups that were “breeding too quickly” and were going to overwhelm “the right sort” of Americans include, but are not limited to, Germans, the Dutch, Swedes, Norwegians, the Irish, the Italians, All Catholics Everywhere, the Japanese, the Chinese, African-Americans, Mexicans, and now, Muslims.

Somehow, our nation has survived these horrible crises. How? We’ve taken in all of these groups, educated them, and–voila!–they’ve become Americans. Guess what? If Muslims emigrate to America, their daughters will go through school. They will become educated, they will have access to health care and contraception, and their birth rates will go down in a generation or two. And in the meantime, they’ll become Americans, and nobody will remember when we were a’scared of the Great Muslim Threat, and we’ll move on to fearing Chileans or Australians or Martians or whatever Grave Breeding Threat our nation faces then.

And no doubt, Steve, some ideological descendent of yours will post on some feminist blog somewhere that “The Martians have eight children per litter; I don’t want human women to grow a fourth arm and speak using their anuses like Martian females. I want women to be happy.”

Obviously there are no solutions. Just an agreement not to discuss the problem.

Perhaps that’s because some of us don’t think that certain groups reproducing is a problem.

Personally, I think that overpopulation is a problem. I think that fundamentalism is a problem. I think that lots of things are problems, but I don’t believe it’s a “problem” that brown people and non-Christians are reproducing more quickly than white people and Christians. I don’t believe it’s a “problem” if religious people reproduce more than aethists — after all, that’s a “problem” that’s been going on for a good few centuries now.

The problem comes when people lack the ability to control their reproductive systems if they choose.

  29. 29
    Q Grrl 7.19.2006 at 9:18 am |

Steve: what problem? Reproduction? or reproduction by fundamentalists?

  30. 30
    Hestia 7.19.2006 at 9:48 am |

    What is the solution.

Well, obviously we need to sterilize everyone who isn’t white and Christian. What other solution could there possibly be? We can’t just support everyone’s choices–that’d be, like, un-American.

Or how about we just kill everybody who isn’t blonde and blue-eyed? That’s a solution.

  31. 31
    Jeff Fecke 7.19.2006 at 9:49 am |

Steve: what problem? Reproduction? or reproduction by fundamentalists?

I think it’s “female autonomy.” But I’m sure Steve will claim otherwise.

Actually the server is a little slow and posts have gotten out of order. I actually agree with the education answer. I like the assimilation and education response. But education involves more than facts and figures regurgitated but clear thinking and reasoning skills. Those who have these skills may not reject religion but will reject superstition. The deeper problem is the squemishness in even talking about Saudi and othere muslim countries texts and lesson plans. The opposite is seen here when the Mexican Government actully is providing textbooks foe california students. Should they do that? If so why can’t we? Why do we know longer teach philisophy and logic in high school? These are important questions. Short version how do we convince others to go for quality over Quantity

maybe it’s me, but i get a feeling of american cultural superiority from your post,i don’t know if you wanted to imply this, but it screamed to me reading it.
also the asumption that all muslims are culturally alike (i believe there are several interpretations of the koran) and that they only need to be educated or being “americanized” to not be a threat to americans is also oversimplify the relations between both cultures.

of course i’m not blind to opression of women in some of the muslim faith, but i felt that comment a little disturbing. and american centered.
it’s also my personal interpretation of the post i don’t imply that it was yours.

My Meaning of assimilate is to become an indistinguishable part of the greater whole. In this example it would be becoming as American as any other American.

This makes no sense at all. What’s the point? Conformity for the sake of conformity? Should we ensure that everyone looks alike, too? so you’d be unable to guess a person’s heritage when meeting with him or her in person? (Demand interracial reproduction!) And maybe we should change all our last names to “Smith”?

If you think these groups that reproduce more quickly do so despite the women therein having access to reproductive choices equal to Western women, I have a bridge to sell you.

Therefore, by your very own logic, there is a problem.

You might also want to analyze how prone are these quickly reproducing groups in giving reproductive freedoms (or other basic freedoms) to women, and how easily are they converted to liberalism (perhaps they have some rule that forbids that, and perhaps leftists renounce “cultural imperialism”).

Such an interesting argument. A quasi pro-feminist position by a man in order to beat Islam, and allege strange facts about the Quran.

This comment reminds me of those Muslims who instead of taking accountability for tyranny and terrorists point to the environmental problems of the West and the electric consumption and predation of the US as a way to off-set their own ills.

I guess its always easy to pass the blame.

    J Swift,

Ibrahim Hooper, the head of CAIR Texas, said that one day Islam be the dominant religion in America. CAIR is the leading muslim advocacy group in America.

    http://frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=6473

    http://www.militantislammonitor.org/article/id/22

The original article is unavailable to me, so I can’t post it.

Here is the point: hypothesize that muslims of whatever background assume control over the political, cultural and religious institutions of America. Do you think they would do anything differently than what they do now in countries where they are in control?

It is very easy to see; evidence of muslim barbarism is everywhere. No, you don’t know what real barbarians are from your living in America, spoiled white women. Here is an article about some precious Saudi Arabian girls who were forced to burn to death in a school because their faces were not covered.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/1874471.stm

Before you descend into histrionics and accuse me of everything under the sun, read the article.

Muslims would not hesitate to kill women like the readers of this blog. If they didn’t kill you, they would make you part of their harems. They would also exterminate:

    Gays
    Lesbians
    Transgendered
    Liberals
Anyone who likes to have a good time
    Alcohol? History
Pictures of women and men together? gone

The Feministe readers would be the initial targets. But you don’t have to care. You can just attack me ad hominem and call me all sorts of names.
