My Poor Baby

Thunderstorms terrify Junebug. And we’re in the midst of one now, one that had VERY CLOSE lightning and VERY LOUD thunder. Presumably, something got hit, because there were sirens shortly after the reeeeeealllly loud thunderclap.

Nowhere is safe enough, of course, but for thunderstorms, I move the vacuum out of the closet so Junebug can go in.

That white thing at her feet is a slice of fresh mozzarella. You know she’s terrified if she’s not eating that right up.

I’m going to buy you a new broom. All those midnight flights are taking their toll.

Awwww! My Doberman (may she rest in peace), was terrified of storms too, despite being big and scary. My new pound puppy, however, was a stray, and I think she must have gotten used to experiencing storms before animal control picked her up.

    Poor Junebug! :(

I have a pug who wants to kill thunderstorms. So much so that if there’s a bad one, we have to tranquilize him because he’ll be rushing around the house trying to find the source of the noise and kill it. He’ll work himself into a frenzy barking, fur up, dashing about as fast as his stubby little pug legs will carry him.

It’d be amusing if I wasn’t worried he’d end up giving himself a heart attack.

My dog sheds frantically during thunderstorms. Now that we have a basement, she also hides down there, and occasionally tries to climb under the futon (which is too low for her to actually climb under, but hey, you’ve got to try, right?)

Poor Dog. Maggie used to be the same way & we’d have to drug her to get any sleep. One evening she was cowering under the futon & I thought “Aha, she want to be in a cave.” I threw a blanket over her cage, leaving only a few inches at the botton uncovered. It worked like a charm. We’ve gotten through the all the fireworks and storms w/o her getting all worked up.

Ahh, poor little puppy. I’m lucky cos my current dog isn’t afraid of thunderstorms. If anything they rile him up and make him want to play. Which is great when there’s a thunderstorm at 2:30 in the morning, as you can imagine.
