Crap-Ass Weather

Cold, raw and blustery today.

And to top it all off, I discovered the source of a peculiar odor in my apartment — somehow, a can of tomatillos had leaked and emptied out on the top shelf.

Oh, well. At least I can turn on my oven and have something rich and hot and hearty. I’m making Black-Eyed Pea and Quinoa Croquettes with Mushroom Sauce from Vegan With a Vengeance.

By coincidence (I’m not a vegan, and in fact plan on eating lamb stew tonight) I posted one of my favorite go-to recipes today that happens to be vegan. Simple, cheap, delicious and pretty. Can’t ask for more than that.

It’s been sort of weirdly cold and rainy down here in Maryland, too. It hardly rained after that deluge we had in late June/early July. We’ve gotten a great soaking in the past few days. So, I’m not too upset.

Sleeping under the covers again has been nice (I don’t have air conditioning). :-)

it’s rainy and crap in brooklyn too. don’t you hate holidays? all the pressure to go out and do something hilariously fun, except you just want to curl up, veg out, and watch dvd’s with a vengeance.

    I got you beat.

I’ve spent my Labour Day unclogging and cleaning up the aftermath of an exploded toilet.

I am very excited to try the Quinoa Croquettes — thanks for the link to the book, zuzu — it’s one I don’t have.
