The article also concerns rural areas where many of the women leave for bigger cities. AFAIK it’s a result of sex-selective abortion, and why parents are aborting female feti is that men are valued more, and because people aren’t allowed to have as many children as they would like, it is logical to put your bets on the more valued sex.
