I love this idea!!

1. I'm intelligent and compassionate
2. ...and I pull no punches and don't suffer bullshitters kindly
3. I have beautiful eyes
4. I have one hell of a nice rack
5. And a nice ass
6. I have some serious upper-arm strength now due to pole dancing and will punch you in the face if you cross me
7. And I've got quite a grip now too, moreso than I imagine, apparently. Just ask the bf. Heh.
8. I love to listen and learn from others
9. I stand up for what I believe - and I allow the "what" to change based on #8
10. Oh and let's not forget my sexy legs!

Thanks for starting this thread, zuzu. I will probably re-post to my blog, too. I think everyone needs to do this!

In answer to Miss Prism's comment 19 way back...I think eyes are exempt because no one has figured out a way to sell us stuff to make them "prettier" for a while (the skin around the eyes is another matter). That may change with the increasing avaliability of color contacts.
My inner cynic also says that it may be because our eyes can't get fat.
RE Jewel's comment 27 - I feel the same way. I would far rather be around women talking like this than the usual "I hate myself and want to die" that we all usually hear. Makes you wonder how many people really feel that way and how many pretend to feel that way because they think it's expected of them.
It's also very interesting that so many women have said that they love their breasts, given that there's so much pressure on us not to.

You know what's really interesting about this exercise? I initially saw this a couple of days ago but didn't respond, not because there's nothing I like about myself, but because my first instinct was that if I actually admitted to liking myself people would immediately attack me as an arrogant bitch and never be willing to listen to anything I have to say again. Which is dumb, because we all deal with the same issues and in theory we should celebrate other women with confidence, right? Except that often we don't. This thread isn't going that way though, which makes me very happy, so here's my list.

1. I'm very, very smart. I have a far-above-average IQ and I've never felt any need to conceal that fact just because I'm a woman and society wants me to play dumb.
2.I'm a kind person. I go out of my way to let the people around me know how much I care about them and how special they are to me.
3. I have gorgeous breasts. They're big but not disproportionately so, they're beautiful, and they're all natural. Thanks Mom!
4.I love my feet, especially the fact that they have really high arches. Not only are they adorable, but they are very well made for walking and I can walk for miles and miles without them getting sore. I also love my tiny, pudgy little toes.
5.I write well and usually have no difficulty expressing exactly what I want to say.
6.I have great relationships with men and am really good at forming relationships that function on an almost sister/brother level. If more people were able to do that I think we'd all be better off.
7.I love my face. Yes, I know that makes me sound conceited, but I don't care. I particularly love my rosebud mouth and my pointy little chin. By some standards my nose would be considered too big, but I love it because it looks just like my mother's nose and every time I look in the mirror I am reminded of her.
8.Children instinctively trust me. Kids I don't know that I meet at parties etc walk right up to me and ask to be picked up and cuddled. This makes me happy, even though I don't want any of my own, because I think that kids can never get too much affection. We should all cuddle kids more often.
9.Animals also trust me. They're pretty good judges of character, generally.
10.One of my best friends in high school once told me that I had "a gift for friendship" and that when she was 15 I saved her life. That makes me prouder than anything else anyone has ever said to me.

I am incredibly strong

I love fiercely

I am generous and giving

I can let things go

I can laugh about my mistakes

I am smart and funny

I genuinely care about others

I am a good mother

I work out and am becoming pretty buff, without sacrificing those lovely squishy places the kids like to snuggle into.

I have a great smile

See, here's the thing: I actually think I'm pretty smokin'. No really!

I can do this with looks:
1) Nice breasts.
2) Gorgeous eyes, with lovely long lashes.
3) Pretty face.
4) Cute little waist.
5) Overall, nice figure.

I can do this with abilities:
1) I'm a good dancer.
2) I'm a pretty good editor.
3) I write well, too.
4) I cook pretty well.
5) I'm pretty strong, all the way around.

I can do this with character traits:
1) I'm quick on the uptake, and learn new things quickly.
2) I like my sense of whimsy.
3) I'm stubborn. It's not always good for me to be so stubborn, but on balance I think my stubbornness does me more good than harm.
4) I have a generous heart (funny, this is the one I felt the most awkward typing. This is the only that felt the most boastful.)
5) I temper honesty with courtesy and manners with frankness.

Other than for the generous heart one, I mostly didn't feel like I was being at all obnoxious doing this—more like I was evaluating my strengths for a potential employer. Maybe it's because I've had to apply for so very many jobs that I've become accustomed to finding good things to say about myself. Maybe I have a healthy self esteem. Also, I've been blessed with friends and lovers who build me up rather than picking me apart and tearing me down—after years of people extolling my looks, I've come to believe them.

Thanks for this thread, Jill! I'm loving reading the nice things people have to say for themselves.

a lot of these comments are not about bodies except to the extent that brains are part of the body, but that seems like not the point.

Also, what about things to like about your body which are not mainly about being sexually attractive? what if you cant mention your looks in every line?

That is the challenge I'm giving myself, anyway. So below are 5 things I like about my body (as it is right now), none of which are related to being sexy or not at least with respect to my opinion of them:

1) I can stand on my head for 3 minutes and counting
2) I can type very fast, if not accurately
3)my second toe is longer than my big toe. I don't know, I just like it
4)I have a very poor sense of smell. I always complain about this, but really it is worse for all ya'll than for me, and according to science, it enhances my cooking abilities.
5) I am a really hard sleeper. I get great sleep.
