Considering their belief that abortion = murder, if they don't also propose issuing death certificates for miscarriages, that would be like only issuing death certificates for people (you know, actual born humans) who are murdered, but not those who die of natural causes.

I'd be making a "report" every month - flinging my clottiest bloody tampon at Cosgrove's head.

Yes, Lenka, it's true. Right here in the Old Dominion. Considering the fact that I had 5 miscarriages and 2 ectopic pregnancies (with, thankfully, one live son in between), the paperwork alone would have killed me.

I wonder if the Tennesee bill means that you can get a dependent deduction for that year.

Also, back in early 2005, Delegate John Cosgrove (R-VA) proposed HB1677 - the "report of fetal death" legislation - that would have required women experiencing an unattended miscarriage to report to local police within 12 hours (or 3 days if medical personnel were aware or involved, as in a medical abortion procedure) or suffer a possible penalty of up to one year in jail or a $2500.00 fine. The report women would have been required to file included information on past reproductive and marital history, education level, report of prenatal care etc.; fortunately this outrageous bill "died" shortly afterwards.

Feel free to leave the "blogging rep" a comment. The URL is http://lastcar.blogspot.com/

I did a cursory search and found that NH and Montana had both introduced similar bills. It appears they didn't go anyhere, thankfully.

You know normally it is not just the mother that gets listed on those death or birth certificates, the father does as well. Interesting how the impregnator has the ability to escape the consequences of his actions unless the woman speaks up. This proposal would be among the many exhibits there is little concern by the leaders of the pro-life movement for much other then keeping women in line with said people's conception of women.

Maybe this law should have an amendment added to make the default father unless otherwise stated by the woman to be this legislator. Such things would be appropriate, since he wants to insert himself into these women's personal decisions.

What a waste of trees. I have an idea, the baby can be born and then they can wait and see how long it can survive on it's own before it dies. Just let it sit out on a table fending for its own life, and if it fails it dies, boo fucking hoo. Because you have to be born to die. You aren't alive until you can make it outside the mother. Effin retards, and they're the state right below me.
If I had an abortion, I'd tell any SOB that asked, and be damn proud of it.

Syfr, it's one thing if they want it, another if they're legally required whether they want it or not.

I just hear something on NPR last night on All Things Considered about some parents of stillborn children pushing for birth certificates for the dead stillborn person. This would seem to fit in with that.

The parents could get a death certificate, but not a birth certificate, and were pushing for a birth certificate as well.
