This is how I feel about having TimesSelect
TimesSelect is free for university students and faculty (or pretty much anyone with a .edu email address).
I just signed up, which is good news for all of us, since it means more teeth-grinding and fist-clenching at David Brooks, Maureen Dowd, and Thomas Friedman (and lots of smiles and applause for Bob Herbert and Nicholas Kristof). This just made my day.

A Faustian bargain, especially where the pink-shirted bizarro lunacy of David Brooks, who should be a character in the Hellraiser series of movies, awaits.
This pwns!
Maira Kalman’s column is just lovely.
Oh my god awesome yay! This makes me go squee.
Ooh, and I’ll be getting my .edu email address any minute now! (bookmarks)
Dang, I’ll dust off my seldom-used pasadena.edu address… thanks for the tip.
I can finally get behind the wall and read Casey Parks’ blog (the student who went to Africa with Nicholas Kristof)! Thanks for the info.
I’ve become very used to university subscriptions to websites. I’m sure it’ll be a pain when I graduate and discover that not everything is free.
Eeeee, yay! I just scared my best friend with my loud squealing noises.
You are officially the coolest person evah for sharing this information. Here I go!

Somebody needs to loan me a .edu address for work.
Just confirming for international readers that .edu.[whatever - well, .au at least] addresses work too, for those who are interested.
Thanks for posting this, Jill. It used to be a discount in Times Select, and when my account expired last week, it only offered the full fledged version. I have been wrestling with paying the full rate, but it’s awfully high. It’s nice to see that they actually made the deal better for university folks, rather than worse.
