– and *furthermore* — i remember my dad telling me about how in Vietnam, THE worst thing about the enemy was that they would use their children as bomb decoys.
this just….. has…… to stop.
and where the hell are the childrens’ mothers?! WHY is this allowed to happen?? how has our collective Humanity been lowered to this point–????!
Sad reality of war. What people have to realize is that war is much more than countries dropping bombs on other countries. While I’m glad that more reports of sexual assault are being filed, there are still issues of the military not wanting to ruin its image. And there still isn’t much done to prevent them.
I don’t even know what say about children being used as decoys, it’s just sickening.
What is the difference between deliberately killing an innocent child and deliberately killing an innocent adult? Or between using an innocent child as a shield and using an innocent adult as a shield?
What is the difference between deliberately killing an innocent child and deliberately killing an innocent adult? Or between using an innocent child as a shield and using an innocent adult as a shield?
Seriously, what is the difference?
Well, and it’s also that in this case, insurgents are using the children as a way to set off car bombs. That is, adults who could very well be suicide bombers themselves are instead preserving their own lives and using their children, who aren’t able to make these kinds of decisions themselves, as actors in a war.
So it’s the “they’re so helpless” factor, as well as the “they aren’t old enough to decide for themselves to fight in a war, so adults are deciding for them.” It’s why Ugandan child soldiers are more disturbing than adult soldiers who choose to be there.
But would that be any different from compelling an innocent adult to set off a car bomb? I agree that they aren’t able to make the decisions for themselves, but how is compelling a child any different from compelling an adult.
And just because children are easier to exploit, does it make it any more wrong to exploit them?

YOu know where their mothers were? Probably murdered.

It’s the “but they’re so helpless!” factor, Jeffrey. Children are far easier to exploit so it sickens some more when they are exploited.
