I’m taking a wee break to relax before my summer job starts and to go down to my sister’s graduation in DC. I have employed two fabulous guest-bloggers: Flea of One Good Thing and bean of A Bird and a Bottle. They are two of my favorite bloggers, and I know you’ll all enjoy them. Bean has already posted below.
I will surely be popping in to comment, and if something strikes me as so incredibly important that I must blog about it now, then perhaps I will. I’ll also be around to deal with anything that goes horribly wrong — although my gmail is currently acting funny, so if you’ve emailed me in the past 12 hours I haven’t gotten it and still can’t get it, because apparently there’s some “error” going on. Hopefully it’ll be back up and running soon, and the blog will not explode until gmail is back in business. So I’ll be around, even if it’s impossible to get in contact with me.
But I’ll mostly be going to the gym, working on various things I didn’t get done during the school year, sitting up on my amazing roof, and doing a lot of this:
Yes, I finally bought a BBQ grill, and my room mate and I are geniuses at using it. Which means I’ve been eating hamburgers and hot dogs every night since Friday. It is delicious, and amazing. Enjoy your guest-bloggers, and if you need me, I will be on the roof with a hot dog and a glass of red wine.

Damn that hotdog looks good … right, now it’s 10.30 in the morning, and I am hungry … bloody hell …
Hey Jill, you mind me asking what you got for a BBQ grill? It is just that I am thinking about doing the same on my Chicago-style back-porch/fire-escape (anyone from Chicago will tell you what that means) and am thinking about getting an inexpensive either gas or charcoal version … the latter generally is way cheaper, but the former is way easier and less mess.
Sarah, make sure you check your municipal codes and/or building regs. A lot of places won’t allow you to use charcoal on a fire escape/balcony, and some places won’t let you use gas grills.
Sarah, we just got a little round charcoal one. It was $20 at Kmart, and is 14 inches wide. It’s easier to use and less messy than we expected, which is a plus.
Try throwing some Italian sausage with peppers on your grill if you want a change at some point. Mmmm…

I don’t need to check, because there are three-billion grills on back porches in my neighbourhood :)
But thanks for the concern hon.

Actually, I’ll go for the kiwi bbq tradition from back home in New Zealand: buttered white bread (salted butter no less), wrapped around a grilled sausage, grilled caramelised onions, and ketchup …
Okay, REALLY hungry now …

Did you get a cheap chimney as well? You know, those ones you use to get the fire started in? Or are you just using charcoal in the grill?
We just use the charcoal in the grill.
Ha! Great picture. Enjoy your break.
