I’m sorry – I just can’t stay away from Sayid. Or House. Especially since I hadn’t seen these pictures before and am now sitting here having a hotness-related aneurysm. Your plan has backfired, and there’s now no chance that I can give them up. *Clings to them*

    David Boreanaz from “Bones.”

    End of discussion:)

Oh, how I love Hugh Laurie. (He bears a striking resemblance to my Liberal Studies advisor, on whom I developed a serious crush halfway through my sophomore year of college when he pierced his ear and commented in a Lit class on how difficult it must be to be a woman in our society, what with the objectification and the unrealistic beauty standards. I think I and every other woman in the class let out a dreamy sigh after that remark.)

Sayid is a sexy hunk of man, too, but I can’t resist the allure of the smart guy.

I’d like David Boreanaz more if I hadn’t seen him on Buffy (and if he hadn’t have such dorky hair!)

I’ll stick with Hugh Laurie. Mmmm.

Hugh Laurie is adorable even while playing a jackass— maybe there IS something to that “some women are attracted to jerks” theory. If the jerk looks like that…

House is hot even to a lesbian… well, this lesbian, anyway. His being an ass hardly matters at all, it’s not his personality I’m interested in.
    *grraaOOoow*

But the thing about House is that he’s a jerk in an interesting way; he’s smart, he’s funny, and he’s an equal opportunity ass (he hates us all the same?). ;)

You know, I have no idea how Guillermo del Toro looks. But I heard on NPR today what must have been a rerun of an interview he did about Pan’s Labyrinth (an amazing, incredible movie) and sweet Lord he had a sexy, sexy voice. Plus I loved how he talked about his own fantasy life as a child and why he imagined the fantasy world that the girl in the movie encountered as real, rather than a figment of her imagination, though as he said, it can be seen as either one.

I hope the syntax scans here, I’m a bit tipsy.

You know, I have no idea how Guillermo del Toro looks.

He looks like a great big giant teddy bear that you could cuddle with for days. Can you tell I’m a fan? ;-) I think even my husband got a boy-crush on him after we watched the Hellboy special features.

My favorite radio voice is Andrei Codrescu. He has the weirdest/coolest Romanian/New Orleans accent you’ve ever heard. He sounds like a trilling bird.

And don’t get me started on Alan Rickman ….

As long as nobody touches David Tennant, we’re good here. Nothing to see. Move along.

I promise I’ll just gaze adoringly at Sayid and drool to myself. He DOES have that whole classic, tragic hero thing going for him. Like, in a Classical Greek Tragedy sort of way. While he gets all sorts of empathy and heavy sighs from this corner, I read too much Greek tragedy in school — I’ll stay far away, thanks, and let the gods sort out those who get too close to him and his Tragic Destiny. ;)

Give me my lovely British snark with a side of intelligence any day. :) Going through withdrawal, here, actually. Too damn busy with real life! =:O

That is a fabulous shot of Hugh Laurie. I’m currently watching DVDs of the Jeeves and Wooster series he did yonks ago for UK tv. He was perfect for the part but definitely not nearly so fantasy-worthy as he is now.

He was perfect for the part but definitely not nearly so fantasy-worthy as he is now.

That’s because Bertie Wooster was a dim-witted, albeit good-natured, ass. He was written that way and Laurie played the role to perfection. Given the role he played on Blackadder, it’s clear that Laurie excels at playing upper-class twits. I was surprised at how good he was at playing House.

Naveen Andrews is TEH AWESOME! I was swooning over him in his bit part as Balraj Bingley in “Bride and Prejudice.” Which, since you’re meant to swoon over Darcy and feel that Bingley is a twit in any adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice” was a testament to Andrews and an indication of how boring Martin Henderson is. Both Colin Firth and Matthew Macfadyen were swoon-worthy in their turns as Darcy.

  24. Mandolin
    Mandolin May 19, 2007 at 10:10 am |

My primary joy in watching House is the lurking suspicion that someday Hugh Laurie will forget where he is and start simpering around with an, “I say!” and “Well, this is a joly good time, isn’t it?”

“That’s Wooster!” my brain says, gleefully, “pretending to have an American accent! Hee hee!”

    Mohinder > Sayid. Just sayin’.

  26. Sally
    Sally May 19, 2007 at 10:17 am |

The funniest thing about House is that British people are constantly talking about how over-the-top and fake-sounding Laurie’s American accent is, while Americans are constantly talking about how it’s perfect and they didn’t even realize he was British.

I know this is a total cliche fan-girl crush, but I just bought the Serenity DVDs, because they were on super sale at Target, and I am crushing on every. damn. person in that series. I mean, I am crushing on Badger. It’s sad, really.

  27. Trula
    Trula May 19, 2007 at 10:26 am |

Sayid is hot fire, for sure. House is ok, he’s just older, is all. He kinda looks like how I think my husband will look when he’s an old man (except my husband will be hotter than that).

I totally didn’t know the actor playing him is British!

  28. Dauphine
    Dauphine May 19, 2007 at 10:29 am |

Mohinder is extremely pretty, but not as interesting as Sayid. But when I say extremely pretty, I mean his smile is like looking into the sun. Blindingly dazzling.

    Mal = hotter than hot.

  29. Tessa
    Tessa May 19, 2007 at 10:58 am |

Mohinder is ridiculously hot. Of course, he’s also the ditziest geneticist to ever repeatedly accidentally aid a serial killer, but I just can’t bring myself to care. He’s just so pretty.

And Laurie, I’m afraid you and I are going to have to do battle for David Tennant. Pistols at dawn (or noon, if dawn is just too damn early)!

    sweet machine May 19, 2007 at 11:13 am |

Mandolin, I am TOTALLY with you. I expect House to chirp “Pip pip!” when he leaves his office or something.

Sally, everyone in Serenity/Firefly is amazing. Yum. Although I have to admit, when the movie came out and some guys I knew saw the picture, they were all crushing on River and I had to tell them she was like 16. They were very disappointed.

i didn’t really crush on badger but i did think he looked like he could be some kind of weird cousin of jude law…for what it’s worth

i kind of prefer mohinder to the lost guy, probably because i don’t watch lost…and yes, mal is pretty great ;)

  33. Nomie

Badger looks and sounds almost exactly like one of the staff from my English study abroad program.

And you can have Sean Maher over my cold dead body. omg squee.

Mandolin, one of my friends is utterly unable to see the hotness of Hugh Laurie as House because she can’t get past his portrayals of Bertie Wooster and the Prince Regent. XD

Firefly DVDs, not Serenity. My brain doesn’t work on weekends.

It seems pretty self-evident to me that the hottest person on Serenity’s crew was Zoe.

brains are sexy, thus house rocks. he should keep his american accent though – i heard him on an interview and the british accent didn’t work at all for him.

and speaking of rocking, i saw pan’s labyrinth the other night. i could never fall asleep during that movie. it was simply way too capivating.

Sally: Fuck yeah. Gina Torres is practically the definition of sexy.

The wife’s current Big Celebrity Crush is Laila Ali by way of Dancing With The Stars. Mine’s Katee Sackhoff via Battlestar Galactica. Le sigh.

And Hugh Laurie is teh hawt. Fortunately, I don’t have anything but House in my head, so I get the hotness unimpeded. Mwahaha.

I totally had a crush on Hugh Laurie as Bertie.
But I have on Bertie Wooster in the books, too. He’s just so damn nice. Real nice, not Nice Guy Nice. There’s something endlessly adorable about his willingness to endure suffering for his friends.
House, though, I can take or leave.

Dauphine, I’m sure we can work something out. I’m trying to be a pacifist and hey, fantasy boyfriends must have pretty good stamina anyways. ;-)

Sendhil Ramamurthy is gorgeous, yes, but Mohinder isn’t exactly the brightest tool in the shed so I find myself tuning out when he’s on screen. And then I miss important plot stuff. *sighs*

We could always just SHARE darling David. After all, the Doctor has had more than one companion oodles of times. :) Alternating weeks perhaps? *grin*

And dear gods in all the heavens that be, yes, yes, YESSS!! to the entire crew of “Firefly/Serenity”!!!! Ultimate fantasy cast, all of them, and Mal looks awfully damn good in those tight captain pants. :) Or in skin and a cool tattoo…. O_O

Laurie: Sharing the Doctor certainly works for me (with the added bonus of my not having to figure out where I’m going to get a pistol ;p). Ahh, to be a companion; it was my greatest childhood ambition, and it never quite went away (especially now that the Doctor is so damn sexy!). :D

Also: so much agreement to you re: Nekkid!Mal. Why has no one yet invented a device that can be used for jumping to parallel universes? *Shakes head* Lazy, lazy scientists…

    Mmmm. Hugh Laurie. Zow.
I concure that there’s a compelling mix of wit, passion, intelligence, and piercing eyes at work there that I’ve always been susceptible to. Add jazz piano and unabashed silliness, as well as the ability to write well, and I’m a goner.
Take a peek at his interview in Inside the Actor’s Studio, and read his book “The Gun Seller.”
    S’good.
He totally looks like my partner, and has similar patterns of conversation. heh, heh. I win Gamer Dating!

Did “The Budda of Suburbia” ever get broadcast in the US? Naveen Andrews plays a young actor dealing with being part of an immigrant community in England, while being very much a young brit himself. Serious hotness was involved, I’ve had a crush on him since then (the 90′s) in which case, I BEAT ALL OF YOU TO HIM AND HE’S MINE!
