I’ve been really bad about doing this weekly re-cap thing. Lo siento. Last night I put together three weeks work of recap links, then accidentally navigated off the page and it all disappeared. Sadly I don’t have the time to do that all over again, so I’m going to just recap this week, and promise to be better about this in the future. So, for the week of June 25th – July 1st:
Monday June 25th
Flea: The Bridge. Reactions to a documentary about suicide off the Golden Gate Bridge.
Piny: The One I Feed. Experiences with eating disorders.
Jill: Project Guest Blogger: Week Five.
Piny: My friends from school are meeting my friends from camp! Online social circles colliding.
Jill: Tricky Dick Deuce. Dick Cheney is evil.
Jill: What kind of idea are you? Salman Rushdie and fatwas.
One Brown Woman: The wedding, culture and my Indian identity.
Tuesday June 26th
Jill: I’m not blaming the victim, I’m just saying that the stupid whore deserved it
Jill: Prosecuting neo-natal drug use: A public health issue
Jill: Baby-killer, angry about baby-killing, kills baby
Jill: Rapist coddled because his victim didn’t look 10
One Brown Woman: Neither fair nor lovely
Jill: Branded
Wednesday June 27th
Jill: …and we’re back! Feministe returns after our server explodes.
Jill: The Kids Are All Right. Young folks are moving left.
Jill: Barry L. Beyerstein (1947-2007)
Thursday June 28th
Jill: Do No Harm — Except to women. Some doctors are refusing to provide care for their female patients.
One Brown Woman: A few little things. More thoughts on culture, ethnicity, tradition, and discussing ideas in a bigger space.
Friday June 29th
Piny: Right, so. Painting a mural, going on vacation, and other real-life updates.
Jill: Get Your Hot XXX Blog Content Here. Feministe is rated NC-17.
Piny: Wait a minute… A girl is too immature to have an abortion, but mature enough to have a baby? And the Supreme Court has taken us back to the days of segregation.
Jill: Egypt outlaws female genital cutting
Jill: Read ‘Ems. Links for your perusal.
Piny: The content of their character.
Jill: Not good. The Supreme Court is hearing Guantanamo cases.
Jill: Jessicas are all pretty bitches. What’s in a name?
Holly: Facebook for the preps, MySpace for the weird kids?
Jill: Resegregation is the new black
Jill: Friday Random Ten
Jill: Comparing Circumcisions
Saturday June 30th
One Brown Woman: Six questions for Feministe readers
Jill: It’s 10pm. Do you know where your local roving gangs of lesbians are?
Sunday July 1st

Maybe I’m the only one, but I really think if recaps are all that much work for you, we can survive without them. It’s perfectly possible to navigate through the last week from the home page.
Off topic: I was able to make a comment here, but when I tried to post in the circumcision thread, my comment neither posted nor appeared as “in moderation.” I posted it a second time with the same result. Has the moderation system changed? I don’t want to keep retrying and then end up with six identical comments in the thread.
Hmmm… no, the system hasn’t changed, but we have been having some server issues lately. Sorry! If you do end up with six identical comments in the thread, I’ll go through and delete the extras. Hopefully the blog will function better soon…
It will let me put a one-line comment in that thread, but not a longer one. I’m close to giving up.
Well, breaking it up into three pieces, and replacing the phrase “penis-possessor” with the word “person” in the middle portion appears to have resolved the problem. Whatever.
Aha! It will not let me use the term “penis-possessor!”
Perhaps it will not let me use the word “penis.”
(ok, the above was actually a test, but there is a hyphenated phrase with the word “penis” which it will not allow to be posted, or even put as “in moderation,” in this thread or the other one. Odd.)
Yeah, I agree: the recap posts seem like tedious work, so if you’d rather not do it, I don’t think it’d be any great loss. Not that I’m opposed to their continuing or anything, just that I don’t think they’re terribly necessary if you’d rather not do them.
A side note: who else but (the late, say, Oh, Mercy and after) Bob Dylan could take a line like “Winter’s gone, the river’s on the rise” and suffuse it with such aching melancholy?
I think the Internets can live without the highlight reel.
Plus, you’ve been misspelling “recapping” for a while now.
