So Jill, tell us, what’s your decorating scheme? And what colors will the apartment be? Sorry if I’m nosy, but I just love decorating.

No no, I will most certainly post pictures and brag all about it when I’m done, so you aren’t being nosy at all.

My room mate and I met in Florence, so we’re thinking a Tuscan theme (not over-done, just subtle). The living room is going to be a warm yellow, with chocolate-brown furniture (couch and chair), a dark brown wood coffee table, and a dark brown wood book case. We have a big oval-shaped gold mirror that we’re going to hang on the wall above the couch. And then our most brilliant idea is to take our favorite pictures from Italy, turn them sepia-toned, blow them up to 8 x 10, and frame them in mis-matched gold, bronze and dark brown wood frames.

Our kitchen is going to be sage green, with a dark wood table and chairs.

I am very excited.

You know, I’ve had mixed and matching furniture for much of my marriage.

I’ve been married for 14 years, I’m turning 37 next Monday, and I’m now in the middle of a divorce. And you know what? I still don’t feel like an adult. I have a 13 year old son. I STILL don’t feel like an adult. I am a professional and own a home. ???

I’m now trying to UNMATCH some of my furniture, actually, to make it seem more, I guess, “me.” Maybe when I finish that process I’ll feel like an adult?

Of course, the Kid (now 23) doesn’t help. She keeps telling me I’m “older than dirt.” Of course, you don’t have to grow up to grow old!

What is it with people and matching furniture??
