Beyond the pale. Do go read the whole post — one slur is just the start of it.

    “Beyond the pale.”

I would have gone with “Business as usual.”

    I’m shocked, shocked!

This is the same dude who quipped about rape right here on Feministe.

I just read the post again; it’s Goldstein’s blog, but the person who wrote the post is not the same person to whom I referred in comment #2 (that was JG himself).

Mea culpa on that one. Still, I’m not surprised we’d see a post like that on Protein Wisdom.

glenn greenwald is a hero of mine. i love his stuff.

jill, if you get psycho letters like that, maybe you should post them up too (or maybe just have a general letters area). i think it really helps expose what activists are up against. norman finkelstein does that on his blog, and its an eye-opener.

Can’t they think of any new insults? IF you consider being gay an insult. I guess that’s one of the worst things they think they can call a person they disagree with.

Is it just me, or does Goldstein seem a bit obsessed with issues relating to gender roles and homosexuality? And what does this say about him, given the fact that he and his wife appear to have swapped the traditional roles of provider and caregiver?

By the way, the post title has a spelling error: “Wisom” instead of “Wisdom”.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more useless blog on the internets. The average plushie site is smarter.

I don’t think it was actually meant as an insult, although it was in poor taste. It was a crude way of saying that a gay guy defending regimes that murder gays doesn’t make sense. Probably not how I would’ve gone about making the point, but I don’t think anti-gay bigotry was the thrust of it.

This is like that teacher who called a student a racist slur to try to teach him that using homophobic slurs is wrong. I say, if you can´t figure out how to make your point without resorting to this tactic, you shouldn´t be giving anyone advice. Plus, what right does this asshole have to tell gay people what their priorities are? I´m guessing he´s not a progressive.

Wow. Say what you want about Glenn – and I’ve both disagreed and agreed with the guy, it’s obviously a very unfortunate, completely indefensible choice of language. Whatever point the author of the post was trying to make got lost in the vitriol. We don’t need any more Ann Coulter clones, thank you.

Well, what piny said, plus, Glenn wasn’t “defending regimes that murder gays.” He’d pointed out that anyone who was bitching that if Kathy Griffin would have been killed rather than censored if she’d made a joke about Allah because ZOMG ALLPOWERFUL TERRORISTS!!! was really off-base, because Michelle Malkin and her ilk make nasty comments about Islam all the damn time and nothing’s happened to them yet.

Also, it was an excuse for one of the Chairborne to go off into one of their bizarre sadomasochistic fantasies about liberals submitting to Arab men for punishment.

I think it’s worth pointing out that what set Dan Collins and his little pals off was that Glenn pointed out that their little fantasy that one day the jack-booted thugs of Islam would invade our shores and force our entire country of 300 million people to convert to Islam is laughably delusional.

Seriously, think about it for one minute. Where do they get the ships to invade? How large of an army would be required to pacify a country of 300 million? Which terrorist group’s military is so clearly superior to ours that they would be able to subdue the inevitable insurgency when the United States, which has the most advanced military in the world, can’t subdue the insurgency in Iraq?

Anyone who thinks that The Muslims Are Coming To Take Over And Convert Us All is on a one-way train to Crazytown.
