"Six years ago I heard that 3rd wave was for women under 30. How is it STILL for women under 30? I consider myself 3rd wave because I was in college when it started getting attention. And now I’m already too old? WTF?"

The MSM is incapable of basic math. Just look at any (supposed) analysis of voting trends by age, and you get the impression that they are completely oblivious to the fact that 1992's under 24's are now part of this year's 30-49's. It's all about how today's youth are different from yesterday's youth and how today's 30-49's are different from yesterday's. And the same was said when today's 30-49's were yesterday's youth.

The fact that the same group of people is still leaning the same way politically in comparison to other generations is never remarked upon. And when they do mention generations, they use amorphous terms like Gen-X, whose definition varies depending on the article.

I blame it partly on baby boomers not want to admit that they are quickly becoming the "over 65" demographic.

I'm so sick and tired of feminism being misrepresented...

This is why I have to fight these petty microwars until I'm blue in the face and want to die.

I don’t think she’s criticizing younger feminists as being lazy or politically unmotivated.

She has specifically mentioned the book Manifesta as an example of individualist, consumer-oriented feminism.

And so women write about being feminists and being sex workers, and they say that those two things aren’t incompatible because they are both feminists and sex workers.

I'm not sure how this is a new "Third Wave" insight. Of course, all kinds of women are feminists, including sex workers. Andrea Dworkin was a sex worker. But you can't then make the leap in logic to say "If feminists can be sex workers, then prostitution can be a feminist act." And if you do say that--well, then Pussycat Dolls and beauty pageants and boob jobs and blow jobs must be very empoweful for women too!

Anyway, great point about blogs and how they contribute to the feminist community and how they work as activism.

Thanks for writing this. It's always a very good thing when white feminists take the time to point out to racist media "hey, believe it or not, those of us with white skin aren't the only feminists out there!" It's hard to strike a balance with being happy about your own success, and yet still realizing that -- awesome though you may be -- a lot of other women should be there in the spotlight with you and aren't because of prejudice. I think that you do a good job of that here.

Hee... the shoes.

I was going to try to work in a "too-old consumer feminist" reference to my awesome Urban Decay eyeshadow addiction, but I'm off my game.

So does this mean that at 41, I’m no longer allowed to hang out online with you young “whippersnappers”? Because you’ll force me to dance on a pole at gunpoint, or errrr…. something??

What do you think they have me doing?

Never mind the gun, the shoes are killing me.

That would make me sad.
