I never knew that My Sharona had such horrible lyrics, I thought it was just a fun song about a girl, rather than a song about pedophilia. I had to turn that one off in the middle of it.

Yeah, singing in Rock Band made me realize that a bunch of songs have really creepy lyrics, including “My Sharona” and “Can’t Stand Losing You”

I’m so so sorry, I know I’m really, incredibly late on this, but I’d love to play Rock Band on the 360 with someone who isn’t some frightening adolescent male who wants to play the Coheed and Cambria song about murdering a woman because it makes him “feel powerful” (this really happened, the worst part was that I was the vocalist and I was the one who actually had to sing those awful words). So if anybody here wants to friend me, I’m StrawberryFake on X-Box Live. I can play guitar and bass on expert, but I’ve been enchanted by singing. Only Rock Band would judge my singing as good.

If I put anybody off with my mention of that song, I’d like to say it’s really the only one in the game like that. The only other offensive songs I can think of are ones that are optional and that you’d have to pay extra money for, anyway!

In Australia, the drummers who immediately spring to mind are Lindy Morrison (the Go Betweens), Sonja Horbelt (Jazz, various), Clare Moore (Dave Graney), Cathy Green, to name a few. But I’m middle aged and many good ones have sprung up since then. I saw the Veronicas on TV a while back and while their stuff is too teeny for me, I liked their drummer, she was solid.

I have been a drummer for many years myself and supported myself that way for a year or so.

I remember once a young man about 20 y.o. standing at the front in a crowded pub shouting bemused-ly, “Hey, you shouldn’t be doing that!”
