Why not? The currents problems of both Afghanistan and Iraq is the consequences that followed the war respectively the invasion. You should have been in neither country, but especially not in Iraq. (Or if in Afghanistan, no bomb-dropping. You don’t catch terrorists by bombing stuff.)
And so, see, the resultant loss of rights for women is one of the criticisms that should be taken up as proof the US government did a bad, bad thing with this Iraqi invasion.

Do you really think you can use the complain that ‘fundamentalist religious groups are taking hold of large parts of [Afghanistan]’ as a criticism of the invasion?

I’m criticizing the war in Afghanistan for being a massive failure; I didn’t say that we shouldn’t have gone in there in the first place. I don’t think we should have gone into Iraq. I do, however, think that we had a legitimate reason to try to find Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan. Our little Iraqi adventure has stretched our resources so thin that we’ve completely bungled much of the progress we could have made in Afghanistan. The Taliban and other extremist groups re-capturing large parts of the country is evidence of how we’re failing.
