I don’t usually fret about the debasement of the language, and I can say “fuck” with the best of them, but I really can’t stand the fact that “pimp” has become not just an acceptable term but even celebrated. What on earth is so cool about selling women’s bodies?
Never mind, I know, but it’s enough already. I couldn’t do what you do, Jill, and look at this shit all day, every day. It’s bad enough just looking at the small pieces of it you pass on to us here.

Perhaps it is the candidate himself setting the tone. The other day, describing Hillary’s campaign: “She’s got the kitchen sink flying, and the china flying...” Typical hysterical woman, having a fit and throwing dishes.
Can you imagine him saying that about a male candidate?
Unfortunately, I’m not surprised. The most hateful, venomous attacks I’ve seen against Senator Clinton have been from the Obama camp, and I’m attending college in New York.
Sigh… that is really all I can muster at the moment.
I notice that the title for this post acknowledges the racist aspects of the video but I haven’t seen anyone really address it (the whole pimping aspect and well rap because he’s a black men and all black men are like x). I guess I’m just sensitive of being lumped in with whoever made this video because I support Obama, and I don’t consider whoever this person is to be part of my camp just because we support the same candidate. Likewise, I’m sure the Clinton camp has outliers who they’d rather not be associated with due to candidate preference.

There are plenty of reasons lying around to hold Senator Clinton in contempt: her worshipping at the altar of “Free-Trade”, her shiving of MoveOn.org, bringing onto her campaign the toad who spent the 90′s trying to convince America that she & her husband shot Vince Foster just to watch him die, the air of entitlement, the endless series of stupid mistakes & missteps coming from a otherwise intelligent candidate who knew she’d be fighting an uphill battle re: sexisim & misogyny…the list goes on.
What I find disturbing, disappointing & utterly frustrating that some Progressive Guys can’t seem to go after pointing out how unqualified a candidate she is w/o devolving into this Rethuglican-esque Sexist Bullshit AND FAIL TO SEE THE INHERENT CONTRADICTIONS IN SUCH A (republican wide-)STANCE. I’m not watching the video, but that Obama-in-a-cowboy-hat pic is not a merit to his campaign. He looks hideously goofy in it – as do many, unfortunately, who try out Western wear. Either they slip a hat on with a suit and fiddle with the brim, trying to act all Walker, Texas Ranger (Obama there), or they go way over the top with a candy-colored ensemble that’d be out-of-place anywhere but a rodeo (Padma Lakshmi in that one Top Chef episode – and, no, it doesn’t count that they actually were at a rodeo). Leave it alone, guys.
Reducing women to their breasts is not cool or funny. I got viscerally angry at the pan-to-boob shots of Johansen and Portman. Less so the nasty photos or Senator Clinton, because I’m so used to it. It started off so good — “Obama is cool” is fine by me. Dancing with Ellen? Yeah. Nasty misogynist attacks? No no no no.
And, to repeat for a thousandth time, “our women are hotter than yours” is not a political argument.

This video is insulting on many levels. It portrays Obama as the dancing fool, and Hilary as a shrieking wretch. The issues have largely been obscured in this presidential campaign and instead of play second fiddle to racism and sexism. Video like this highlight the fact that though we have evolved, much remains the same.

There’s mass misogyny directed at Clinton, but it seems out here post-college to be coming way less from the Obama campaign than one might expect. The Clinton campaign, however, seems to have no scruples about attempting to ride the fear of a Black presidency into the white house while practically kissing McCain’s ass. Hey, if he wins she still has a shot in ’08, right?
