This is definitely a ‘well, duh’ article. Matthews has been profitting off of demeaning women for years and when called on it, he uses the time honored ‘I can’t be misogynistic, I have daughters’ routine. And before anyone chimes in that ‘it’s just Clinton’, it isn’t. He is a slimeball and that is the bottom line to why he gets paid the big bucks.

The real shame here is the “Grey Lady” just letting all of that crap slide when doing a profile. Maybe they figured he would hang himself, but I doubt it. Attention is attention, and for someone like Matthews it’s generally good for your career. Heck, he probably profited, in quite literal ways, from that blogswarm.

Sickening, absolutely sickening. And yet, not only does he still have his own show, which I avoid like the plague, but he keeps showing up and shows I do like to watch. Ugh….

*facepalm*

Without reading the article, I know it just isn’t Clinton, given his on-air sexual harassment of female contributors.

Note to PA organizers/voters: you may want to form a third party in advance of his running as a Democrat for Arlen Specter’s seat someday.

I don’t understand why he’s still allowed on the air. Or for that matter, still married. I bet he hates his mother, his wife, his daughters (GASP!!!), and anybody else with boobs and a vagina.

It seems to me that misogyny pays off for many people. Clearly I’m in the wrong line of work…

I doubt Chris Mathews hates his mother, wife, and daughters. He just does that compartmentalizing thing — they are nice good women, while other women are outside the charmed circle. HR Clinton for being a power-hungry democrat, Kerri Washington for being a sexee negress, young women associated with the show for having boobies and not being his blood relatives. What grosses me out is what that article described really well: the way that center-left men & media get off on Mathews’ “political incorrectness”. Which basically means: his behaving like a giant ass. The NYTimes is really bad in this direction in their overall style and content; they’ve never seen a sexist bullcrap evo pysch “study” they won’t write up, etc. The older I get the more it upsets me, because in my late 30s I feel like — come on, a lot of these guys are from my generation! It’s not dinosaurs producing and consuming and applauding this stuff.

I don’t agree with Hillary’s politics, and I find it hard to credit most criticism I hear about her, because she’s been slammed with misogyny over and over again. I don’t even want to take the energy anymore to decide if any given person is slamming her because she’s a woman or because of her stance on the war.

I mean, if I can’t figure it out without looking between the lines, then it’s probably sexist.

As for this guy, what a piece of work. Vile, disgusting work.

i have to say thought that there is a tendency to say anyone anti-hillary is misogynist which simply isnt true. i am a diehard feminist but cant stand hillary because of her policies.
