Sounds like she’s got a future in decathlons. (Or do girls/women compete in pentathlons?–not sure)

Women traditionally do the Heptathlon. That was Jackie Joyner-Kersee’s big event.

I had to read this a few times to understand (I didn’t know what a team title was): the idea is that she was the only person from her high school to go to the state championship, and prizes are awarded there to groups of people from the same high school for a group effort, and she won one of these prizes on her own, right? That’s pretty amazing.

Bitter Scribe, I’d say she’s probably currently somewhere between 5000 and 6000 in Heptathlon points, depending on how good she is at sports like shot put, javelin and 800 m.
Here’s the result list from the World Junior Championships, for reference:

5500 would be really good, in other words.
No Carolina Klüft, but then again, no one is :)

Yeah, substitute the shot put for the discus, throw in an 800 meters and 110 hurdles and she’s just about set. I’ve got a niece who would be good for the heptatholan but she’s a bit concerned about the 800.

    Ooops, I think that’s 100 hurdles.

yeah, she’d only need to run like, the 800m for a heptathlon. Bonnie’s wicked awesome!!! She makes me want to revisit my track and field days :P
