New Yorkers: Support Marriage Equality

From a listserve I’m on:

If you support gay marriage…

Governor Patterson has said that NY will recognize legal same-sex marriages from other states and countries. He’s doing a poll on whether people support it. If you’re interested in taking 15 seconds to lodge your support, just call 1-518-474-8390 and say ‘I support the Governor’s directive on marriage,’ then give them your 5 digit (New York) zip code.

Send this to all your friends and progressive coworkers in New York ASAP!

New Yorkers only (sorry non-NY residents). But please do take a minute and call.

Just called to give my support. It’s time the busybodies who don’t want marriage equality are consigned to the trash bin of history.

Oh how I wish I lived in NY just so I could call. Yay for New York.

You can call if not from NY as well to show support. If they ask for your zip code give a NY one lol.

I just called and registered my support for marriage equality.
Gave me the warm and fuzzies to be able to do that.
    Yay for NY!

As they said on 9/11, we are all New Yorkers now.

I consider myself a happy honorary resident of the 10019, which is the Zip I just used on my call. (My uncle lives in Manhattan, and I called on his behalf.)

And I’m moving to New York in three weeks (woo-hoo), so I’ll just use my new-address zip. :)

It doesn’t look like a poll, actually. I think maybe (from my basic internet searching) the NY branch of the ACLU started this to show local support for their (admirable) initiative on marriage equality:

I wish I lived in NY so that I could have given my support to marriage equality
