Just wanted to take a second to point everyone to the new Amazon widget along the right-hand side of the site, under “Tried and Tested.” It’s not just us trying to sell you shit* — we get emails and questions all the time about which feminist books and other media we recommend, so we’re hoping that can serve as a resource to readers. We’ve also added a still-incomplete blogroll and links to some other progressive media and organizations. Hopefully, these new additions will add to our vision of Feministe as not only a source of feminist news, commentary and community, but also a springboard to other feminist resources and information.
So enjoy! If there’s stuff we’re missing, let us know. And many thanks to Ms. Lauren for making it happen.

apparently, you do NOT want whomever feministing got
I love that “Ed Wood” and “Heathers” make the list! As for the American Apparel ads… sigh. Ya gotta do whatcha gotta do.
Ok, this is probably going to sound like a really dumb question, but who recommends the stuff under “Tried and Tested”? Feministe, officially? Or can readers contribute too?
Not a dumb question. Because there’s a login and signing up for it required me to submit my home address, SSN, etc, only I have access to it (Lauren has the login as well). An email went out to all the Feministe bloggers asking for suggestions, and we’ve added all the suggestions we received. We’re also keeping the floor open for readers to make their own suggestions.
So in other words, readers can’t add to it themselves, but any reader suggestions we receive will be added. The only reason readers can’t add themselves is because then everyone would have access to my personal info, and that would be a big problem. Hope that’s clear!
