It's way too easy to dismiss the second wave, but looking at the substantive contributions that were made, getting thing wrong shouldn't mean throwing out the baby with the bathwater, or assuming (as you point out) that the occasional "hey look how aware I am" post represents a major paradigm shift. “A history book can tell us a lot.
