AuH2Obama Show this Thursday

Feminist, eco-friendly fashion designer and Feministe pal Kate Goldwater of AuH2O Designs is hosting a fashion show this Thursday, Sept. 11 (unfortunate date, but the only thing open because of Fashion Week) in support of the Barack Obama campaign. She attended the Democratic convention in Denver and heard Obama speak, and then came back to NY to hear McCain and Palin insult community organizing at the GOP convention — so she decided to do a little progressive organizing of her own.

All the models in the show will be wearing AuH2O for Obama dresses, and Obama tops for men and women will be only sale for $20 — half of which will go to the campaign. No cover, free Obama buttons, and all drinks will be $4 (can’t beat that).

So bring a friend and come on down to Cafe 81, on 7th street between 1st and 2nd. I’ll be there, and so should you. Click the photo at the top for more info.

Is that a picture of Obama on her crotch? Really?

I’m with JenLovesPonies! Are we really so past body part associations, this that there is no relationship to Obama in a woman’s crotch? Or am I looking at a new-fangled chastity belt, where one person has the key to her sexuality? And are we really so past the whole sexual stereotype about black men? Why reduce politics to black sex again?

Ha! I thought the same thing. Then I thought, “You know, it’s there or on her boobs like normal logos.”

Looks more like Obama is guarding the lower tummy area than the crotch… perhaps protecting the uterus against the intrusive and controlling agenda of the right-to-life crowd?

Or maybe, it’s just fun to not feel compelled to all wear slogans in one place.
