It is a shame that we’re interacting via a medium composed strictly of words on an electronic page, because the proper response now is for me to stand and applaud.

Me too. I love you! This is a MAJOR problem that I have noticed in the rad fem blogosphere specifically. No acknowledgement of class privilege and if anyone brings this to their attention then they silence you by claiming you must be aligned with the patriarchy. We need more voices like yours and more white feminists acknowledging that historically, the feminist movement has ignored WOC.

I would have to agree with everyone else. Your words are strong, powerful and eloquent and I agree wholeheartedly with all that you have stated!

    Bravo!

More applauding from this side of the peanut gallery!

My favorite line: “I am not some trump card that can be played at the end of the day.”

Wow. Is there a place you can deliver that speech somewhere, in person? I echo Daniel Martin, in that I want to stand up and cheer.

I know this is a bit of a leap, but in the context of being culturally sensitive.

It is not ok to be rude and sexist to me, just because it’s a part of your culture (not you, Renee, Obvs.)

Not even when I am a part of the white, majority culture.

    It’s just not ok. Ok?

Also: hoorah! Good for you. And good luck with those multiple identities – they’re hard work, no?
