luzzleanne: I did. The bounce message is actually a maintenance message from the email server itself, not from the web application that sent the “thanks for helping” message.

Interesting. I just got a bounce on the AI form email. I’m resending through my ISP’s SMPT server, but if more people are getting this, and this one gets through, I’m going to start suspecting that they are blocking emails from AI.

Just a note on the guilt/innocence thing: Cara is right in saying that we don’t need to be arguing guilt or innocence to demand a fair trial for Troy (or for any death row inmate). Even for people who are guilty of the crime for which they were convicted, the death sentence is usually applied unfairly. There are issues of racially biased judges and juries, of inadequate public defenders, and more. So we should be fighting against all executions.

However, we shouldn’t capitulate to the other side on language. It is okay to proclaim that a man or woman on death row is innocent – not just “possibly innocent” or “wrongly tried”. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that in this case, that’s fine. But Troy Davis and everyone around him have asserted his innocence for years. And the evidence points to his innocence. So in this case, I’m not just fighting to stop an execution, I’m fighting to save an innocent man.
