A new contest: What Would Sarah Say? Complete her sentences and possibly win a refrigerator magnet. It’s at http://www.homelanddecency.com.
Have fun!
I posted about how Sarah Palin isn’t completely lying when she says she didn’t fire Walt Monegan only because he refused to fire her former brother-in-law.
I also wrote about the misnomer of imposition of secular values on society in response to someone changing his vote on Proposition 8 not because of the bigotry inherent in Prop 8 but due to the bigotry of those who support it.
carp, would help if I included the link The tyranny of secular refusal to adhere to religious dogma
This week at Macha Mexico, we’ve finally finished translating our interview with all-girl Mexican/Argentine cumbia-punk band the Kumbia Queers.
For those that haven’t heard of them (and unless you live in Mexico City or Buenos Aires, I don’t blame you if you haven’t…), these are Latin American queercore veterans who started playing cumbia for a change. The result is amazing, and seeing them live is a real pleasure. Hopefully the interview captures even a little of their energy.
(And for those in or around NYC, they have a show next Saturday…)

Mommy Wars Bingo!
I was inspired by anti-feminist bingo and white liberal bingo. Play along on your favorite message board or blog comment thread!
We debated abortion in my high school Government class and I noticed something interesting in the way otherwise pro-choice people worded their arguments.
My blog is not supposed to be political, but I just can’t help it lately. This post is about the slippery slope of taking choice away from women. I promised it would be my last political post, but I’ve been unable to keep that promise:

Breast Milk for the exotic Palate: that’s right coming to a restaurant near you.
Miss Navajo: A beauty contest quite different from the Miss. America pageant. One that feminists can embrace.
Can You Spot The Dirty Girl: This is about government policies that reduce womens autonomy and blame us for sexual assault.
Michelle Obama Bust: Art work that fails, racist/sexist, thanks Daniel Edwards
NARAL had a bumper sticker slogan contest to show how anti-choice McCain and Palin are. I couldn’t send mine it because it had a swear word in it, but I did post it on my blog.

Delurking…I just ranted this morning about how I hate the term ‘va-jay-jay’.
In response to a friend/fellow blogger, who felt disconnected from her status as a white person: What does it mean to be white?
And because it’s nearly Fall and I love food: a recipe for chocolate chip pumpkin bread
We took a trip to Costa Rica which involved no facials, day spas or lavish shopping trips. But we did have a blast in a place that’s safe, fun, inexpensive and eco-friendly. Our favorite thing was the rural eco-lodge with its wildlife and horseback riding…well, no, maybe the surf lessons…er, perhaps visiting the idigenous village…aww heck, maybe it was the waterfall rappelling…nah, it had to be the cooking lesson from an awesome chef.
Check out our webisode! >>
On that same page, we’ve also posted several articles and travel tips on Costa Rica written by a diverse group of women travelers and a full itinerary/travel guide.
I also wrote on breast milk exploitation: http://mzbitca.wordpress.com/2008/09/18/would-you-like-some-breast-milk-stew/
A woman was actually able to press charges against a man for photographing her upskirt in NY (unlike some other states).
I analyzed an Times article and the research it refers to, that suggests that as gender equality increases, we humans return to our more primordial, traditional gender roles. Riiight.
And this is a little older, but I never got to promote it before. I wrote a post called “A Woman is a Sex Object When She Wants to Be” about a really great entry in the new Men Speak Out collection. I had a jerk commenter on it, but it’s still worth a look.
I’ve got a couple of posts up on CHICKS ROCK!, one about my resistance to labels, and the other about finding and using our own voice. I’ve also got a quick ass rant up on Jump off the Bridge — I need some more advice so help me out!
I wrote Sarah Palin: Passive Revolution…In Lipstick on the role of sentimentalism in Palin’s appeal to certain women voters based on a book by Lauren Berlant. And…um, LAUREN BERLANT linked to it from her blog! omg. Basically, I’m writing this to you from beyond the grave because I totally died of shock and happiness. Check it out!
A couple of thoughts about George Takei (alias Mr. Sulu) and Brad Altman’s recent marriage, with a comparison to the marriages and relationships we see in the Star Trek franchise itself. My guess: Rick Berman does not approve of George and Brad’s marriage.
I read Michael Kimmel’s new book, Guyland, last weekend and posted a few of my thoughts over at the Future Feminist Librarian-Activist.
I examined the difference between tall tales about Sarah Palin and ones about Barack Obama, and what goes wrong when people claim to be satirizing a concept they’re promoting.
Over at The Feminist Underground:
1. We discuss the Palin effect, and how it is promoting anti-gay sentiments
2. Newcat explains why its better to fight lies with lies.
3. Maggie considers why there are so few female pilots.
If I were a screenwriter, I’d write a movie with a makeover in reverse.
The things that make you happy aren’t extras you should feel guilty about, they’re the meat & potatoes of life.
It’s been years since I believed in god, but joining a church choir makes me wonder if I ever fully turned my back on Episcopalianism.
Here’s a poignant article about friendships and how sometimes your personal loyalties may be holding you back in the rest of your life. Not all friendships are forever

I am a pop-culture addict. Mostly when it’s relevant.
I decided to reframe discussion on Helena from Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, from seeing her as a creepy stalker-type to wondering why she got the results she did.
wow I love this! I’m just going to read everyone else’s self promotion…! Hoo!
My Talk Like a Pirate Day Contests are open until Monday. Gay pirate novel and older gay romance up for grabs.
I haven’t had enough brain to blog thoughts on teaching my sister about male privilege.
In the midst of job hunting frustration, I wrote my “real” resume – the resume that I’ve always wanted to send out, but never have – and then started a blog encouraging others to do the same.
wow some excellent posts! this’ll keep me going for a few days.
http://anothernobody.wordpress.com/2008/09/20/an-old-feminsit-chesnut-sexual-harrassment/
A rant about sexual; harrasment and those who belittle it as not a ‘real issue’.
Fantastic posts from the rest of you, my crvaing for good blogs is being sated. Nice.
Like some others my blog didn’t start out to be political but things happen. This post is about the proposed bail out of Wall Street and the risk in trusting this administration. http://aftercancernowwhat.wordpress.com/2008/09/20/save-the-banks-screw-the-people/
Recently, I’ve gone in the opposite direction from some of the others, and have veered away from engaging with political issues and focussed on more personal stuff.
This week, I wrote a celebration of the life of a “special” friend, named Shez, who departed this Earth something like 5 years ago. Rest In Peace, goofy hound!
I posted a simple but tasty recipe for vegan baked ziti as well as some info about two important upcoming benefits in NYC, one for Obama and one for FIERCE.
Over at After Ellen I wrote about the production halt on Dollhouse and how the cast of the new 90210 is scary-skinny.
This week on MMW, we get a rousing discussion on why some people just can’t get over headscarves, rip Khalil al-Anani a new one, dissect American Dad‘s depiction of Saudi women, watch Shabana Azmi play devil’s advocate, roll our eyes at a movie titled Unveiled that’s about–you guessed it–some sexy and oppressed Muslim woman, and rolled out The Link List.

I finished what ended up being a four part review of Michael Kimmel’s Guyland. (Posts appear newest to oldest, but it’s fairly simple).
Well this week I vacillate between the literary, with a piece on the Hitchhiker’s sequel, the ideal with a post on the one month till blog action day and stand up against poverty campaign, and the profane with a piece on scammer revenge. It’s been a varied week at Foreign Affairs!
I play around with the Bonsai Story Generator.
I recently wrote about the importance of donating blood.
I also posted information on a beautiful old Observatory just north of Toronto, Ontario. The existence of this historical landmark and scientific building is being threatened. The large piece of property has developers drooling and dreaming of wrecking balls.
i guess ill just plug my blog as a whole for now..

I blogged about the right’s inevitable run AWAY from Palin as they discover that she is, indeed A WOMAN *gasp*. Also, got one comment from a rightie who must not have noticed that I was ridiculing the notion and promised to go away and “think about” not voting for Palin as she does carry around a vagina.
I wrote about how the economic crisis is affecting women and families at the CA NOW blog: Economic Free-Fall Hits Workers Harder than Wall Street
I also did a piece collecting all the sexist images of Sarah Palin I could find: This is What Sexism Looks Like.
I finally got over my writer’s block! No I didn’t. But I wrote something anyway, all the silly, cute, funny, and strange mostly videos I found while surfing around. I got more silly cute funny strangeness coming up later this week.
I had a minority-off: sometimes I wish things were nice and simple and only one kind of oppression ever happened at once, you know? http://craftastrophies.wordpress.com/2008/09/04/take-that-cognitive-dissonance/
