The day after the 1988 election I asked all my little 10-year-old friends a trick question: “who’s president right now?” All but the dumbest fell for it. Why didn’t he get caught? Because he didn’t know there’d been an election (yep, born here in the US, just not too bright).

Who gets a stub from their ballot? How does that work? All I’ve ever had to show for it was the little “I Voted!” sticker.

Some states allow voters to register through the end of October.

My state (Wisconsin) allows polling place, election day registration. The town I live in keeps “losing” my registration, so that has saved my bacon on more than one election day.
