I see your smoosh-face and raise you a teeny grey baby

All I have to say is, Lauren started it.

You think your cats are cuter than my cats? I would just like to point out that I was unable to take individual pictures of my kittens because they are so adorable and loving that they insist on sitting on my lap at all times. Case in point:

Yes, that is true love.

More cuteness here. What now, little L?

And don’t even give me this ageist nonsense. We all know that younger kitties are routinely valued only for their tremendously good looks, and not for their intelligence, their passions or their contributions to society. I think we seek to be a blog that opens up a space for such young kitties to be admired for their various talents, beyond being unbelievably fucking adorable (see here, for example).

So I will see your Fidel and raise you a Percival (or Omar Little — we are still undecided about his name).

Don’t make me get out the video camera.

Now, now. Some of us more enlightened types can appreciate both kittens for their intelligence and passions, and older cats (aka “coug-

No, wait, I can’t do it.

Oh, I’ve got more ammo. Like, at least fifty pounds more ammo.

    Next Saturday, it’s on.

all kittehs are equally cute an’ equally coochiewoochilylovable.

Sayeth the Lord (and the Lady, and all the little Ladylings)

Otherwise, eventually you will create a kitteh pic so cute, it will destroy the World!

    Omar Little, definitely.

Oooh, I’m a little jealous. I just adopted a 5-mo old kitteh from a rescue group, and while she’s sweet and beautiful and playful and rubs against your legs purring, she is definitely not a lap-sitter.

    Omar Little. Seriously.

I actually just finished the fifth season of The Wire last night, and I’d pay homage to my man Omar at any opportunity available.

Jill, what happened to the puppy plan? I know you really wanted your feminist card and all, but I think you’d have an easier time trumping if you had a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Ah, fair enough. I will say, the one thing about having a dog is that if I want to go out for a bite after work, it either needs to be short, or I have to detour by the house to let the dog out.

In the meantime, I hope you’re enjoying your newly stamped feminist card. We all knew you were a card carrying member, but it’s always good to have that extra credibility which comes with cat ownership.

I have two kittenish cats (1 yr olds). I had the first one for almost a year and she never became a lapcat. So I decided to adopt a 1 yr old cat a couple months ago. I chose her because she was kinda raggedy and super cut. She would paw at me, purr, and let me hold her. Now she lets me pet her, but she hates being held, put on a lap. She’ll lay by me, but no lap. Makes me sad. They are both super cute but would it kill them to lay on me? I took my previous cat for granted. She wouldn’t leave me alone. And these cats follow me around the damn house, but they will only get within arms length. Drives me crazy, especially since one will freak out if I close a door and she can’t be in the same room with me. Total separation anxiety.

Cats aren’t senior until they hit 11 from what I understand. I think that’s like being 55 or 60 in human years. Adult cats are 1+ in case people were wondering.

I just realized I meant to post this on the non kitten post. I had both up in tabs, looked at the cute pics, and then typed my response on the wrong thread.

Our very cute longhaired grey kitten just went off for her spay today. When we got her back home and let her out of the carrier, there seemed to be considerably less of her, and not in the way you would expect. Apparently whoever was doing the surgery prep got a tad carried away with the clippers and shaved her halfway up one side. She wouldn’t come out from under the dresser for the longest time; I think she was embarrassed.
On the other hand, when she’s shaved you can see that her skin is tigery and spotted too, which is pretty cute. Well, except for the part where she’s glued together.
