“One Week,” eh? Didn’t the Barenaked Ladies make that speech, like, ten years ago?

And as a side note . . . is it a sign of political addiction gone too far when you’re actually looking forward to a primetime infomercial?

If it is, I have become a junkie. Husband and I recorded it on the dvr and will be keeping it (for a while at least), and I cried throughout.

I have to admit, I wept at the infomercial. I don’t think that’s addiction; it’s something else bigger.
I’m really letting myself believe this time. I think some of us didn’t want Obama to get the nomination because the thought of him getting close and losing was unbearable. It’s gone from unbearable to unthinkable; I’m a bundle of nerves right now, and I know on Tuesday I’ll probably be crying my eyes out.
I want to vote for someone I’m proud to vote for. Obama’s not perfect, I don’t agree with him on everything, but you know what? I will be proud to cast this ballot. I won’t just be voting against the unthinkable–I’ll be voting my own tearful hopes.

“you may be cynical…” yea, hate to be a buzz kill, but when I listen to this: hope, unity (although never including muslims or arabs in his list), partiots, americans, god bless america, self-responsibility, pull ourselves up by our bootstraps, working hard. what exactly is the content here? these are the same catch-phrases the right wing uses. i’m guessing that most of the people cheering in that audience, or reading this blog don’t think we should be sending 20,000 more troops to afghanistan. but Obama does. I’m guessing most of us don’t support the death penalty, but obama does. How about a militarized border wall? Obama voted for and continues to support that. Support gay marriage? not obama. A plan to get rid of the hyde amendment and make abortion more accessible for women? He won’t touch it. of course, McCain is on the wrong side of these questions as well. I’m not cynical about change, just about Obama bringing much of it. I think any real change on these issues is going to have to come from us and our own organizing to pressure whomever wins on nov 5th.

“barack obama had a dinner with a known arab five years ago. is this really a man we can trust?”

    ~john mccain’s closing argument

well, you see, mccain is making a big deal about this because this guy from little green footballs, says that someone named doug ross says that he received a tip from a trustworthy reader who says that there is a tape that the Los Angeles Times has with obama supposedly saying that israel committed genocide while at a dinner party for rashid khalil.

i am not making this stuff up.

    http://littlegreenfootballs.com/article/31734_Quotes_from_the_LA_Times_Suppressed_Obama_Video

the LAT’s reported that they saw a tape where obama had very measured, neutral comments for the audience, but since they wont release it due to contractual obligations, there’s all sorts of insane speculation and mccain has decided to run with it a week before the election.

and in other news, pamela of atlas shrugs has discovered that obama is actually the illegitimate son of malcolm x. both are black, both are 6’3, and both are able to control large crowds of people.

you can find it on her blog, i wont be linking to it.

Lauren, that’s nothing! I’m not even American and I’m not living in the USA (I’m where the kangaroos roam) and I’m taking the day off work so I can be a crying sap when I watch Obama’s acceptance speech.
