The best source of patriotism since Fox News

Joe the Plumber has a website. And for only $14.95, you can get a special “Freedom” membership.

He’s also coming out with a book on American values, like lying, practicing without a license, and being racist.

    From Wiktionary:

    patriotism (plural patriotisms)

    1. Love of country; devotion to the welfare of one’s country; the virtues and actions of a patriot; the passion which inspires one to serve one’s country.
    2. Concern for the common good of one’s political community.

    nationalism (plural nationalisms)

    1. The idea of supporting ones country and culture.
    2. Supporting a national identity when it does not exist as a sovereign nation, for example, Basque nationalism, Kurdish nationalism.
    3. jingoism. The support of one nation’s interests to the exclusion of others.
    4. patriotism.

    Emphasis supplied.

I’m tired of seeing jingoists assert that their patriotism is the only kind. I love my country; I want to make it better.

Patriots are called to serve in many ways. Jingo nationalists send a nation’s sons and daughters to kill and die for transitory glories: for ego’s sake. If one needs a team to cheer for, nations compete in athletics all the time. If I shout myself horse for May & Walsh or USA Basketball, nobody comes home with limbs missing and traumatic brain injuries.

I have to admit I laughed my ass off when I saw this. I have to hand it to the man for having what is probably the longest 15 mins in history. That said has he not cashed enough on his 5 mins conversation with Obama to STFU already. Anyone who buys this book is a tool.

A paid membership is required to read Joe the Plumber’s blog. This guy is milking his 15 minutes for every penny.

What has JtP done that justifies accusing him of racism? Not supporting Obama?
    Just curious . . .

His rather dramatic anti-immigrant status smacks of racism, for starters.

Hopefully he’ll get enough enough membership $ to hire a better website designer. Scrolling marquee text is sooo 1997.

I believe it was the whole “He (Obama) danced around the question like Sammy Davis, Jr.” comment and, possibly, the “I’m voting for a real American” crap which I took as anti-Muslim.

Seriously, this is a nadir in politics and pop culture, no???

Joe’s book is being ghost-written (or co-written, which rather comes to the same thing) by Thomas Tabback, and also might be self-published — but I can’t find any data about PearlGate Publishing other than Tabback is the only author that it’s published and he also owns the company. Looks like Joe has some coattails to jump on.

Apparently, freedom is not free (sorry, just had to say it).

his website claims that 10’s of 1,000s have expressed interest in joining “this movement”. this movement? um…i’m a little creeped out by that. sure, i know JTP is only out to make a buck while he has a chance. i mean, here’s a guy with a limited i.q. and knowledge – and people of lesser i.q.s and knowledge are listening to him, and paying to do so. (i base my assessment of his i.q./knowledge on the many times he’d state something ludicrous, like obama being socialist, and when pressed to give proof he’d fall back on the ignorant man’s cover for not knowing/understanding much: “hey, that’s just my opinion, think for yourself”)
and where the hell has JTP been the past 8 years, as the bush administration has spent billions destroying another country, and justifying this war with lies and manipulations? what about the patriot act, JTP? oh yeah, i suppose the title is enough to stop jackasses like joe from questioning what exactly the patriot act is.
i have a personal disgust towards JTP. i was born and raised in toledo, ohio. joe looks like, acts like, sounds like, and oozes the personality of every asshole who threatened me bodily harm in the late 80’s because i had the nerve, as a female, to shave my head. now, i don’t know JTP personally(thank god), but i swear his entire aura is of those “morans” who once made my day to day life miserable.

    “Shop Joe”?! WTF!!

I’m showing this to my kid brother as an example of how anyone can make it in the US. :P The agony… *sigh* Totally milking it for the $$$ and publicity, that guy. Well, I guess the notion of him being a Republican plant is no longer possible with his Palin-esque “diva” stunts, now…

So saying Obama is “dancing” like a… famous dancer is “racist”?

Overreaching absurdities like this are why so many people just tune out (even legitimate) accusations of racism.

Palin/Joe 2012! I do hope they get that book out before the 15 minutes are up. Just think, all those years he listened to Rush are finally paying off! Capitalism baby!!!

I dunno about you, but his website makes me all nostalgic for those old geocities websites people set up in the 90’s. Hey if retro design works for Drudge, then it must be good enough for other wingnuts!

None of the links work on his site.

You are WRONG on the license thing just like Olbermann keeps repeating this stupid ass and wrong line.

MOST plumbers do NOT have licenses. You only need a license to be a plumbing CONTRACTOR. To be an hourly plumber does not require a license. Most plumbers work for contractors and do not have a license. Thus “practicing without a license” is absolutely meaningless and does not make him dishonest.

Joe the plumber is a moron, but it’s time to get rid of that stupid “license” line of attack.

Tony, I think the issue over the license was that he had made the comment to Obama about wanting to buy the business (which if I’m not mistaken wasn’t for sale, didn’t generate the revenue he claimed, and that he didn’t really seem to want to or have the means to buy it, but I digress…) and that he could not have been a contractor without first obtaining a license, as you correctly pointed out, which was something he had given no indication of doing.
