I’ve been MIA all week because I’ve been visiting family in Seattle, which means being at the whim of my mom’s dial-up AOL (not even kidding). So the blogging has been light, because it’s apparently still 1995 at my mom’s house. But I have relocated to a lovely coffee shop with wireless, just in time to bring you the FRT. You know the drill — leave yours in the comments.
Friday video is my favorite single of the year:
1. Jets to Brazil – King Medicine
2. Silver Jews – Black and Brown Blues
3. Bruce Springsteen – Jersey Girl
4. Tom Waits – Carnival
5. Voxtrot – Rise Up In the Dirt
6. Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Turn Into
7. The Mountain Goats – Palmcorder Yajna
8. Desk Ark – For Rob Riecke
9. Guided by Voices – Glad Girls
10. The Gossip – Yr Mangled Heart
Sadly, no more videos today because I’m in a rush, so I’ll pose a question instead: What was your favorite single of 2008?

Don’t have a favorite 2008 single. But am always on the lookout for a coffee house in Seattle with free wifi where I can hangout and drink coffee while I read feministe. Do you have any recommendations now? My current favorite is Wayward on about 85th and Greenwood as it is open till 11pm. But I still like to roam a bit.
1. Okkervil River – A Girl In Port
2. Communique – Perfect Weapon
3. Final Fantasy – An Arrow In the Side Of Final Fantasy
4. Architecture in Helsinki – Do the Whirlwind
5. Architecture in Helsinki – City Calm Down
6. Tom Waits – Calliope
7. Destroyer – The Space Race
8. The Dismemberment Plan – Come Home
9. Death Cab For Cutie – Why You’d Want To Live Here
10. Frog Eyes – A Latex Ice Age
The first thing that comes to mind is probably Britney’s “Circus,” though I also guiltily (because of the gender politics, not because of the poppiness – I am unabashed about my pop-love) love “Hot & Cold” (Katy Perry).
I liked Paper Planes a lot more before the dorm next to mine decided to play it minimum of three times a party every Friday and Saturday night. But it is a good song.
ooh, I also really loved Goldfrapp’s A&E. and anything by Robyn. THIS QUESTION IS HARD.
You hit it on the mark. Paper Planes – can’t get more feminist than MIA’s single.
I’m going to tag “Leeds United” off Amanda Palmer’s solo album for best single of 2008. Its a great song and Roadrunner can go straight to hell.
1) White Zombie – Creature of the Wheel
2) Scissor Sisters – Laura
3) Opeth – To Bid You Farewell
4) Los Straitjackets – Calhoun Surf
5) Sentenced – Excuse Me While I Kill Myself
6) Primordial – As Rome Burns
7) Garbage – The Trick Is To Keep Breathing
8) Gorgoroth – God Seed
9) John Coltrane – Softly As In A Morning Sunrise
10) The Tossers – Altercations
By the way, thanks for introducing me to Santogold. Possibly one of my favorite albums from 2008.

10. Kate Walsh – Your Song
Hopefully, your mother will get TDS DSL internet asap, Jill.
I was intending on a full list of songs, but since the NFL had just observed its version of the Holocaust (the Lions finishing 0-16), I’m only going to give a Random Five.
