In an effort to catch up on the many, many emails I’ve been procrastinating on lately, I’m just going to do a bit of a roundup.
This looks like fun – NYCLU is hosting its 2nd annual Big Gay Variety Show in New York City on March 3.
The Guttmacher Institute has posted its 2008 overview of state policy developments in reproductive health and rights. And you know what, it could be better, but it’s not that bad. What I find significant is our wins at the polls – when voters got to speak, they spoke to preserve reproductive health and rights.
This seems to be borne out as well by the National Women’s Law Center’s new poll, which found strong support for reproductive health care among Republicans and Independents.
SIECUS, as one would expect, is advocating for expanded funding for comprehensive sex ed. They’re asking people to contact Obama – as budget season approaches, it’s long time to stop giving taxpayer dollars to ineffective, disproven abstinence-only programs.
As a liberal Catholic, I have big love for Catholics for Choice. Their latest action alert asks pro-choice Catholics to contact their member of Congress and let them know they support the Freedom of Choice Act. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has launched a postcard campaign in opposition and CFC wants Congress to know they don’t speak for all Catholics.
While we’re in the religious arena, the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice has its own action alert urging expanded funding for comprehensive sex ed programs.
That’s it for now. I know there’s tons more out there, so post what you will in the comments.
