I thought they were running all those tests and giving her the vaccine and all that jazz to see if she would be able to sustain her pregnancy on the island. I could be completely wrong, but I didn’t think they actually tried to take her baby at all. If that was the case, then wouldn’t they have actually tried to take him once he was born?

Sure they did. Claire woke up in the middle of the night screaming because someone stuck her in her belly with a needle. They kidnapped her to one of the stations and did tests that she couldn’t quit remember, which they eventually found later all fixed up with a baby room.

They were PLANNING in taking her baby but if I recall, Ethan tried to kill Charlie (hung him in a tree) because he was trying to protect Claire from Ethan.

But, maybe he doesnt count anyway because he wasn’t even born before they got there. He wasn’t a separate person yet.

But do any of us really, honestly think that when talking about “everyone” they were talking about the baby? Other than the fact that no one still living has a relationship with the kid, the island doesn’t seem to want anything with him. He’s the one kid on the show that the Others didn’t try to take (remember, that was Rousseau), and who the island doesn’t seem to have much of a plan for. Also, Locke didn’t exactly go and see Aaron either.

I think the theory still stands.

At first I thought Compass Rose was right, too, but Cara, I think you just pulled one of the great rhetorical “hey! look over there!” moments of all time. If the island is such a pedant that Sun wasn’t allowed to flash back to 1977 because of a promise Locke made, surely Aaron does in fact spoil Compass Rose’s otherwise excellent theory.

Compass Rose, I think that you totally figured that one out.

Husband and I were just discussing. John did promise to bring everyone back but her. And that’s exactly what he did. (Well, okay, except Aaron, but no one seems to care much about that kid anyway, including Kate.) Everyone is back but Sun. Sun is also the only one who he didn’t go see. Meaning that Sun is the only person who tried to get back to the island without John’s help.

Seriously, pending an actual explanation on the show, I think that’s it.

Before John left the island through orchid a la Christian McCreepyPants and the Wheel of Time, he specifically promised Jin that he would not bring Sun back. My guess is that because Locke was so “pivotal” to the return of the oceanic six, his promise was somehow binding and Sun didn’t flash to 1977 with the rest of them.

i’m not so sure why we’re assuming that pierre chang’s his real name. i think that’s how he introduced himself to jack in this week’s episode. oh! again in “because you left”, someone interrupts his shooting of a dharma orientation video & calls him dr chang, so it might be from that too.

Who’s reacting with visceral?
We have different opinions on here…mine mostly based on the little my brain actually allow me to see. Hell, if I had Teevo I would actually see alot more..with perhas other opinions.

Either which way…no one is missing anything about the characters being flawd, thereby exposing their humanity. We get it. But that doesnt means we have to like everybody on the show..:P

What is Kate angry at Locke for? Killing Naomi? The freighter people tried to kill Kate and Kate isn’t one to judge in the murder department.

Well, hey now. Kate at least had a good reason for her murder. And while, in the end, Locke was right about the freighter, that wasn’t Naomi’s fault. And we didn’t know that at the time. And he is a little crazy. And to be fair, I wouldn’t listen to him either. Oh, and remember how we went and joined the Others? You know, people who kept them hostage, tried to kill Sawyer, etc.?

And hey, I’m not anti-Jack, at least not as a general rule — just anti-Jack as leader of any group that I’m personally going to belong to! I agree that the characters being flawed is what makes them so interesting and worth watching.
