While I loved the discussion, I'm more interested in strategies and planning. How do we get more (and more authentic) media representation of gender nonconformity? One way is through work like the <a href="http://butchcastingproject.com/" rel="nofollow">Butch Casting Project</a>, which seeks to connect butch performers with casting directors, producers and other folks who have to power to support and shape butch performance and representation. (Full disclaimer: I'm friends with one of the BCP founders, and may take on a blogging role as the project picks up. But even if those things weren't true, I'd still think it's super neat.) Anyway, I hope this is a topic Feministe continues to cover. And being in that room with y'all made me swoon a little. I’d love to see this panel evolve into a more action-oriented session next year.
