Hopefully you’ve all seen the post about amazing Feministe commenter Forrester’s generous offer to match up to $1,000 in donations made to RAWA, in solidarity with the 300 Afghan women who recently marched against the new law which legalizes marital rape (among other human rights violations).
Well, we’re almost there, but not quite. So far, we’ve raised $830 worth of donations that will be matched. But those donations have slowed down to a very slight trickle!
Help us raise that other $170 by the deadline at the end of tomorrow (Sunday April 19). Donate now, and then forward your online receipt to me at cara.kulwicki at gmail dot com so that I can verify with Forrester that the donation was made. Don’t be shy about small donations, either — some have been made in $10 and $5 amounts, and every last bit helps.
Also, if you’ve made a donation already but haven’t yet received a quick thank you email from me, that means I didn’t get your receipt! Please send it again!
And yet again, thank you Forrester!

Hello,
Clicking to the link takes me to another link, and then to here: http://www.afghanwomensmission.org/help_us/donate.php, where there are a bunch of choices but I don’t see RAWA anywhere. Should I just pick one, or am I missing something?
Thanks!
According to the RAWA website, the afghan’s women’s mission is the charity that they’re connected to — donations made to the AWM essentially support RAWA.

Though if you bought stuff for them through Amazon, I suppose that’d count as well!

Hey Tara, it’s not in bold or anything, but in the paragraph up at the top of the page, it says “all donations are used to support RAWA.” I imagine that most people have probably been choosing the “general fund,” but I don’t think it really matters, if you wanted to choose a specific area to support!
Oops, sorry for missing that, and thanks for the super fast answers. Donation sent.
Dear Forrester,
I am an old and strong supporter of RAWA. I am so happy and proud that you started this fund-raising and were able to get through it. We must all do all we can to support our brave sisters in Afghanistan.
