Some members of FAB feel that concerted action is needed, and some are fearful of stirring the pot just before Sotomayor's confirmation hearings. Right now, I'm thinking that the least the feminist/womanist/radicalwoc communities must do is to write a very strong letter to President Obama telling him (yep, I didn't say asking him) that a speech is required. Now. It has to come from the top. And furthermore, that we suggest language in order to make if perfectly clear that taking the law into one's own hands will not be tolerated. Zero tolerance. Many leaders of women's groups came together to sign a letter to Obama re the Council on Women and Girls, and I think we should look to those signers as well as add to the list.
