Why do we have to make this a partisan issue? What should concern you is that things haven’t changed all that much — an attractive, opinionated woman is a threat unless she toes the line. Lefty men are just as culpable for writing the book on this one, but until now managed to hide themselves under the cloak of progressiveness — and, to our detriment, women keep falling for it. Look at all the women who swooned and fawned over Clinton, a man who, by all accounts, is a licentious dirtbag, cheater, and quite possibly a rapist. You do no one any favors by trying to foist the responsibility for this off on the right. Progressives need to acknowledge and purge these scumbags from their ranks if anyone is to believe that the status of women has any meaning to them whatsoever.

How about you read the comments from actual feminists on this thread–including the OP–who condemned the hate-fuck comment. As well as the posts in this blog condemning the sexist attacks against Ann Coulter, Sarah Palin, as well as the sexist and racist attacks against Michelle Malkin. You see, we can and do condemn sexism even when it is aimed at women whose views are vile. Reading is fundamental, my dear.

I’m so glad you are very cognizant of sexism. I await your condemnations of Citizens United Not Timid, John McCain for calling his wife a c**t, and the right’s awful rhetoric about lefty women, and women in general. Until then, STFU and stop being such a hypocritical douche.

Newcomb, if you read the article or the post the OP linked to you’d see that the guy’s “criticisms” of the women were incredibly sexist in nature. Or maybe you wouldn’t, since likening hate fuck to spreading rape fantasies is–what?–”a million times worse” than writing misogynistic drivel. Whine, whine, whine. Poor baby, how do you oppressed men get through the day? It’s just like Russia under Stalin, I tell ya. (There, I said it and saved you wankers the trouble.)

And yes, hate fuck is a really creepy term. Sorry, Shiny, if that makes me a pearl-clutching wanker, than so be it, but unlike you, I don’t regard sex as something to use to put over on someone, or a way to “[defeat my] reviled lover’s wankery”. If you buy into the “I fuck you therefore you lose” school of thought, you fail at sex and at life. I’ve actually had sex with men I didn’t agree with but there was no hate in it on my part or on theirs–if I find someone that vile, I don’t want to nail them. Oddly enough, I don’t see male conservatives–or men in general–subjected to the same rhetoric WRT hate fucking, and they aren’t trashed for their looks, being outspoken, or being shrill.

Overall, this is what I mostly expected. regardless of your ideology, those who mostly agree are given a pass and those who don’t aren’t.

The distinction, however, is that between a (1) a consensual interaction or (2) a private fantasy; and (3) a publicized, invasive account of something that has not been consented to.

Not that it matters: I think Nigella Lawson is incredibly sexy and I would gladly jump her bones in the highly unlikely event that I ever had the chance to do so. This has nothing to do with rape, it has to do with a person who is hot enough to give me a raging woody in spite of her political views -which I find appalling.
