Howdy!
I’m Nichole and I’ll be guestblogging this week.
I hope my contributions will be worth your time and I look forward to any discussions they may bring.
Now for the usual, introductory stuff:
I am a Southern woman, born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, currently living in Los Angeles, California. New Orleans and the DC area are also places I still consider home. My passions include working in education, creative writing, and dabbling in photography. Aretha Franklin and Prince are my favorite singers. When stressful days are kicking the crap out of me, I’ll either curl up with a cheesy paranormal romance thriller, complete with lycanthropes, vampires, telepaths, and/or telekinetics, or I’ll settle down to watch Sunset Boulevard, Psycho, Anchorman, lovejones, House Party, or any of the Frasier season DVDs.
I currently work for a nonprofit that provides academic and social services to at-risk youth in South L.A. and have plans to return to school to earn a Master’s degree in writing.
Well, I guess that’s it for now.
Thanks for giving me this opportunity and see you soon!

Do you read Moira Rogers? I <3 Moira Rogers.
yay for LA! yay for prince! looking forward to reading your posts.
Interesting, I too am from Nashville, TN (Franklin/Murfreesboro to be specific) and now live in Los Angeles! Welcome!
Okay, for the fact that you cited copyright in attempt to prevent Feministe from getting sued by Prince on the basis of your quoting him (he probably will still sue us anyway :P), I already love you! :) Welcome.
welcome!
*waves*
Anna, I’m unfamiliar with Moira Rogers. I used to wait for Laurell K. Hamilton’s latest release with bated breath, but I had to give her a break. My current faves are Richelle Mead and Keri Arthur. And, of course, I’m a True Blood fan, although the accents make me cringe. >:x
Thanks, everyone, for the welcome.
SoCal represent!
LKH has gone downhill, sadly–she used to provide the best Academic Escape Reading ™ of all time.
I’ve gotten a little into Anne Bishop and am still hopin LKH may recover her senses.
Can we please please anticipate a post on women and horror/scifi? Or feminism and the current cultural vampire obsession? :-D
@chava
LKH used to be my guilty read of choice, the last few books though have been almost painful. I can’t even go there for guilty pleasure anymore (pardon the pun).
I would love to see some discussion on women in horror and scifi (and even fantasy). As for the current vampire obsession (a la Twilight) that discussion could really be a fun one!
@Nichole
I’m a newbie reader here, but so far it’s been a great experience for me and I hope it’ll be a good one for you too!
Moira Rogers (www.moirarogers.com) writes Urban Fantasy Romances/Erotica. I love her strong female characters.
Welcome, fellow Frasier fan!
chava and pega: that sounds like a great idea for a topic! let me play with some thoughts and research, and let’s hope i’ll have something up by week’s end.
i have some thoughts on LKH, but i think i’ll save them for the blog entry. ;)
anna, i’ll definitely check out moira rogers.
hello, chally, and anyone else i might’ve missed.
Howdy nichole.
