Hello, Feministe readers!
I’m hexy, of Hexpletive.com. I’ll be one of your guest bloggers for the next two weeks. And I absolutely despise writing introductions.
I’ve been reading and commenting on Feministe for years, and know a few of you from the comment threads. I’m still not quite over my surprise at being asked to guest blog here, but will endeavour not to screw it up.
So what can you expect from my posts?
Hexpletive is a disorganised little pocket of rant on the intertubes, but the topics I post on are varied. I’m aiming to stick with the variety, and hopefully get to post something on each of my favourite blogging topics.
I’m a mixed race Indigenous Australian, who is often read as white. I’m hoping to post on a few recent occurrences in the Indigenous Australian political landscape, and to give Australian and non-Australian readers alike a bit of a glimpse into what’s going on with our Aboriginal people.
I’m a sex worker, and a sex workers rights activist. I agitate for the right of people to make their own choices about when, how and on what grounds they engage in any kind of sex, and against the criminalisation of consensual sexual activity. I oppose the stigma and discrimination surrounding sex work and sex workers, and emphasise that we are the experts on our lives and on our work. I’ve got a few posts in mind on this topic, and I hope I get the chance to write them all.
I’m a queer femme. I have some thoughts on “passing as straight”, on biphobia and femme phobia, and about expressions of queer femininity that may appear here, if I can sort them into blog post form over the next two weeks.
I am a non-neurotypical woman, a woman with a non-physical disability. And boy, do I have a lot to say on that one. It’s a topic that’s come up recently on Feministe, and I’m hoping to add to that discourse at least a little during my time here.
I’m a nerd. I’ve got an absolute pile of feminism in comics topics I’ve never gotten around to broaching on my blog, but which might make an interesting read here.
There’s more, but that will do for now. I have a few rules that I’ll introduce as they become relevant to the topics I introduce, but here’s the big one I’d like you all to keep in mind: I am Australian. I live in Sydney, which is time zone GMT + 10. If the moderation whatsit is playing up and your posts get stuck for an extended period of time, it’s probably night time here. Do not have a tanty about it. I will unmod comments and reply to things (from the future!) whenever I get a chance.
I guess that’s it. Here’s hoping we all have a thought-provoking and conversation-stimulating couple of weeks, with minimal flamage and no incidents of hexy breaking the Feministe. Hey, what’s this big red button do…?

*Squee!*
Looking forward (from the past!) to your posts.
Good to have you, hexy!
Welcome!
Hey, what’s this big red button do…? Oh my god, during my guest-posting I was terrified of accidentally shutting down the entire site, despite the fact that my own blog is also on Wordpress (so it shouldn’t have been too difficult to navigate).
I for one welcome our Australian time-traveling overladies.
Also an Aussie, happy to see you represent!
Mad love for the Hexy Awesomeness!~
