He used to require them to get a court order, and when the courts ruled against him about that, he started making the inmate prepay for transportation and procedure costs. No other inmates are required to prepay, or reimburse the county in any way for medical procedures or even for inmates' personal visits to sick/dying family members or to funerals. It's disgusting -- white solidarity in action. I bet you a vast majority of people would actually prefer their peers, their neighbors, to be treated humanely. But they still choose to suppress that instinct and side with the people who are more "like" them even if they're cruel and despotic. It's depressing. Sherriff Arpaio is really contemptible. He needs to be fully investigated for racial profiling, and other racially charged policies. I think it is inappropriate for a sheriff to demonize any portion of the community that they serve. Everyone in the community should feel that law enforcement is available for their protection.
