My room mate made this recipe over the weekend, and it’s so delicious I had to recommend it. It’s healthy, spicy, and even vegan-friendly. It’s also remarkably bright and pretty. Enjoy.
Anyone else cook anything good lately?
In defense of the sanctimonious women's studies set.

I made potato bread yesterday. It didn’t rise properly, but it still tasted good.
That looks delicious. Definitely giving it a try tomorrow if my host family hasn’t chopped up all the potatoes I just.bought.yesterday. That aside, if you’re looking for some delicious soft pumpkin chocolate chip cookies (and who wouldn’t be?) I’ve got a recipe for you. http://cookandhook.wordpress.com/2009/10/11/pumpkin-chocolate-chip-cookies/
That looks really good. I am a huge fan of sweet potatoes, so I am definitely bookmarking it. I recently made a really delicious beet salad. The pictures don’t look super-appetizing, but the recipe is good, I promise! http://jennyknopinski.wordpress.com/2009/10/07/recipe-beet-salad/
I am totally making those cookies tomorrow!
I made muffins for the first time ever, pear and cinnamon. They were only ok, but I was just happy to use up some of the pears I got from a local tree pick with this really awesome organization, Not Far From The Tree. They help tree owners by picking fruits and giving 1/3rd to the owner, 1/3rd to a food bank, and split a 1/3rd among the volunteers. We also sweep the yards we work in and generally try to be tidy and respectful of the people letting us pick.
Anyway, the muffins were pretty decent. Next time, I may add nuts or sweet potato to them.
I made an amazing squash and wild mushroom risotto last weekend from the Zuni Cafe cookbook. The recipe’s not online, but it is pretty simple if you know how to make risotto, and the secret is the wild mushrooms are sauteed in butter with the chopped squash. I also have recently gone crazy for red velvet cupcakes, and must recommend this blog’s bake-off of different recipes: http://www.crumblycookie.net/2009/02/12/red-velvet-cake-comparison/
I ended up using the one she recommended, icing included. It’s gonna be a keeper.
Had beef stew last night with sourdough. It was perfect for a cold, sunny day.
Lately I’m obsessed with Thumbprint Cookies and I have some peach jam for the batch I’m getting ready to make right now.
It’s Canadian Thanksgiving, so I’m having Tofurkey (with stuffing baked inside it!), quinoa with sauteed mushrooms and onions, a green salad, white wine and pumpkin pie tonight with my housemates. Om nom nom.
I have made my thoughts on cilantro/corriander known in this space previously. *blech*
Made these tonight, delicious! And while I share the general distaste for cilantro expressed above, it plays an unexpectedly constructive role in this dish.
The potato salad recipe seems to be behind a subscription wall. Looks delicious though. Last really good thing I made was pistachio baklava. I bake better than I cook.
hexy, I feel you, although I plan to try this out sans cilantro.
I recently made my favorite cake: Plum/peach/nectarine/blueberry cake. You can honestly put just about any fruit you like on it, but I think the best versions involve plums, nectarines, or peaches.
Hmm..well, being unemployed has left me with too much free time, so I’ve made faux vanilla wafers, manapua, a new type of chiffon cake I’ve been working on and now I’m making some pate a choux. I’m trying to decide on a pastry creme filling or perhaps a modified chocolate mousse.
Hey, ’scuse me, this is offtopic but I’m not sure how else to contact you. I think you would want to know that some virus has gotten onto your website and there are a bunch of spammy links up with the header.
Just so you know n stuff…
I made green beans in a yummy way.

The onions caramelize and make this a sweet dish. The last few recipes she posted look pretty amazing as well.
