Man, you people are killin’ me!! A whole day without Feministe?! On a weekend?!

So….what did everybody do for Halloween? I took my daughter out trick-or-treating, made her share the chocolate with me (she doesn’t care for peanuts, so I get the M&M peanut and Mr. Goodbars), and then we watched the Rocky Horror Picture Show on DVD.

Well, since nobody else is going to comment, I WILL. Sheesh, people.

Oh hi comment mod, La Lubu got in before me :)

I felt too awful physically to dress up for anything; all we did for Halloween was go grocery shopping, and I later took a trip to the post office and JC Penney looking for new bras. Ultimately unsuccessful. Bra shopping is a seriously ridiculous endeavor. There are C-cups and above only if you wear a band of 34 inches or less. Hardly anything without an underwire; hardly anything that wasn’t plunge or push-up or both. I’m fortunate that I can still find bras that at least go on me in retail outlets — even if they hurt like hell or bunch or stick out in weird and wrong ways — I know a lot of people can’t. I’m about to resort to online bra-shopping and it scares me; I try everything on for a reason — my body is particular about clothing and it’s not just appearance that I have to factor in when I buy something.

Today I tried the mall and found out the bras that fit me well until my lumpectomy are now discontinued.

Bleah.

Pls to be freeing me from comment mod exile! Kthnkbai!

5 Ouyang Dan 11.2.2009 at 1:11 am

In Exile? It makes it sound all cool and rebellious! WHEEEEE!

Kid had a high fever for Halloween so we stayed in (despite her pleas that she was FINE, FINE for Trick or Treating, Really!), and watched Stardust.

Oh, and then whatever she has she gave to me, because she is all, like, awesome about sharing.

Did I hear someone say Rocky Horror Picture Show? That is my fav Halloween movie. I woke up Saturday and put the cd on repeat. I think I played time warp until the children begged for mercy. One day when they are older I will have to take them to see it so they can see what the fuss is about every year.

Just want to say: I’m liking this theme SO MUCH MORE than what’s at Feministe.us. PLEASE tell me y’all are revamping the design once the database/WP is updated!

Hee! for what I assume is tigtog’s Aussie spelling correction to the tagline.

This whole setup is oddly cute. A girl could get used to this.

I hope everything is ok with the main page!

10 garg 11.2.2009 at 2:13 am

amandaw, you probably know this, but you can get bra extenders that attach to the clasps on the back of your bra. they saved my boobs when i had a small cup size but larger chest. i got mine in the bra section of my local department store.

11 tigtog 11.2.2009 at 2:22 am

@Kate,

The main page will be fine, it’s just that the site was hacked at the end of August and some spammy linkfarm code inserted. I’ve cleared out the exploits which were generating the linkfarms, but it looks like there’s some orphan code generating infinite process loops (which take up all the CPU processing capacity) hiding in there somewhere. Once I hunt it down and exterminate it with extreme prejudice everything should be fine again, but the hunt could well take some time.

*cheers Tigtog on*

@ amandaw,

Not sure where you live, but in my city there is a specialty lingerie shop that has a lot of bras for traditionally “hard-to-fit” people, including large chest sizes, small ribcages, nursing bras, post-mastectomy bras, etc. Maybe you have one in your area?

Thank goodness! I thought something was wrong with my computer. I’ve been suffering severe withdrawal symptoms.

15 S.A. Small 11.2.2009 at 8:43 am

I personally resent no longer being able to imagine what other commentators’ faces/chosen-means-of-self-representation might look like. That, and the pictures are, like, huge.

16 tigtog 11.2.2009 at 9:36 am

Sorry about that, S.A. Small – this particular theme as modified for wordpress.com looks very oddly aligned if the gravatars are not enabled. Sadly, not all themes over here can cope with a custom header, so that was the priority.

17 Kristjan Wager 11.2.2009 at 10:04 am

Hope you get the malicious code killed fast tigtog. Debugging bad code is bad enough, intentionally problematic code is much worse.

Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Just posting to say: ****. Hope it you can fix it soon :(

Halloween was rad, but I miss me some Feministe. :)

I spent my Halloween driving in 3 counties looking for a Plan B!! Im not sure what exactally was going on in this god forsaken town that I live in… but NOONE had any. Personally, I would like to think that they ALL ran out at the same time! BUT more than likely… some fundamentalist christians bought them all up to prevent the “killing” of babies. BLAH. It reminded me of our battle against the majority and how much protecting my rights as a woman meant to me. I was more disturbed by the fact that the hospital had none in stock either… and Halloween being one of the “holidays” with the HIGHEST assult rate, I was saddened for those women who had to deal with the same red tape that I did, in the event of an assult!

Yah boo sucks to Energy Australia, which has a power outage in my suburb on a day that’s going to hit 35C – I’d just got our heat extractor fan going with the AC on low just to keep the house cool-ish, and now I can feel the house heating around me.

No big computer, either. I’ve got my netbook with my mobile broadband key, but it doesn’t have the crunch power to do everything I need to do for Feministe or my other clients. So I’ve got a few hours with no big computer, no TV and no radio. I may have to engage in housework!

23 Kate 11.3.2009 at 2:06 am

@tigtog Glad everything is ok – good luck and happy (code) hunting!

Anyone up in Maine with me – BIG HUGE VOTE TUESDAY!!! Please, get out, vote, get your friends and neighbors and relatives out to vote! No on 1 will keep same-sex marriage legal in the state!

I also have issues with procrastination, so I can sympathise.
