I think my two favorite aspects of this are:
1) The officials calmly walking near the path of flying bowling balls;
2) The grunting.

Yeah, thatte shitte is fucken awesome! It looks more dangerous for the judges than it really is. Once the shot is in the air, it takes an almost perfectly predictable ballistic flight path. Because it is so fucken heavy compared to the aerodynamic forces, it doesn’t curve or get blown off course appreciably by the wind.
Hammer throw is even more impressive to me, as not only are they hurling a massive weight, but they are spinning around and around before letting it go.
I’d like to see some fool tell any of these folks that they “throw like a girl.”
It’s the same with the javelin. The judges are standing around while people throw SPEARS at them!
Love the shot and the hammer — the people who do the field sports are like weight lifters — it’s just between you and the laws of physics.
