Tell me about your rescue pet

I’m doing some volunteer work for a local animal rescue organization, and one of our projects is a Tumblr documenting stories of rescue pets. If you have (or had) a rescue animal you love, we would very much appreciate submissions.

do strays adopted from overseas count, or should it just be shelter pets?

One thing that’s not totally clear before you hit the ol’ submit button (though I probably should’ve figured, or at least checked out the tumblr before submitting): they’re looking for photos, not just text. I just submitted a short text blurb without even thinking about pictures. Silly me.

The handsomeness of Mr. D’s profile has been submitted, and he seems to know that I’m talking about him, because he just climbed onto my chest, which is making typing interesting.

For some reason, I have a hard time submitting stuff on Tumblr — like it often just doesn’t get seem to get through. Is there a direct email address I could submit to ? I have 20 years+ of rescue cats, and would love to share a couple of my pal’s stories.

I’m curious about the textbook definition of a rescue pet.

For example, I’ve taken in pets that were inexorably bound for the shelters. And these were pets that might not have been adopted because people generally want healthy, young puppies and kittens. It’s terrifying to think that my little friends probably would have been put to sleep.

So, in my mind, I did rescue them, even though they didn’t come from an organization specifically geared for that purpose.
