It’s International Women’s Day, and I’m working with UN Women to help spread the word. Michelle Bachelet has issued a call to end violence against women world-wide, and UN Women has released a lovely song from 25 artists around the world:
What are you all reading / doing on IWD?

Happy International Women’s Day!!
You know the song is nice but don’t you wish that the money had gone into something, I don’t know, tangible or real. There is such a long way to go especially in the Global South we stand in solidarity with those women – where feminism is a very, very real thing, people in the west might think that feminism has already achieved its aims (which we haven’t) – and of course we have had a large measure of success – but our sisters in the south have to deal with the very real oppression, exploitation, physical harm and sadly sometimes death on a daily basis – feminism for them is everything and we cannot forget that.
I was going to go to event, but youngest sprained arm yesterday, so instead i wrote about something that had been bothering me for a while, the erasure of working class women from some feminist narratives. Now i want to write the book!
