Signal boosting HA (homeschoolers anonymous); they’re running an amazing series of “sex education” story submissions, right now. (They use trigger warnings.)

I would also like to boost Homeschooling’s Invisible Children (be forewarned the whole site is meant to draw attention to horrible abuse and neglect hidden by unregulated homeschooling environments in the US, sometimes even death of children, so there is some very upsetting content.)

Patheos is also something I’ve been drawn to more lately; mostly for the stories from ex-quiverfull daughters who are now mothers and figuring out how to raise children in a loving and understanding way without spanking or violence. But also if you’ve ever wondered what the process of going from “pro-life” to pro-choice looks like, there are a lot of personal accounts.

I never realized there were so many voices speaking out against harmful upbringing practices in conservative communities and I really hope this new generation of now-adults can enact change in their communities and undo some of the damage some harmful practices have done.

It’s an old post, but this piece on Patheos, also by a former quiverfull daughter, was a very memorable, powerful piece to me. Highly recommend to all who haven’t seen it already.
